Why is the keyborad player playing it out on the keyboard live, if this is played with this arpeggiator.? I am a guitar player and play this tune, and our keyboard player is quick and plays this out on two keyboards. and sounds like the record. Fun tune to play for sure....

If he's playing it without an arpeggiator then he is technically playing it wrong. Pete Townsend recorded often with electronic organ arpeggiators-- Eminence Front was recorded with a Yamah E-70, Baba O'Riley used the marimba pattern from a Lowrey electronic organ, etc. Not to say that your mate shouldn't play it that way-- if it works then it works. The way Pete recorded this tune is with one track using both manuals of the organ. The organ has a top keyboard and a bottom keyboard, and the arpeggiator only affected the bottom keyboard, allowing him to hold the arpeggiated pattern with one hand while he played something else with his other hand on the top keyboard. Where it gets complicated is that instead of holding one static arpeggio with the bottom manual, he was changing those notes while he was playing the other melody up top. It's easier to hear all this if you listen to the isolated track.
