In UV spectroscopy, when you refer the smaller diff in HUMO and LUMO allows for an absorbance of a longer wavelength, do you mean a larger wavelength (higher number), or a larger range of wavelengths? Thank you!

Hi! So molecules with lower energy gap between HOMO and LUMO are more easily excited and can absorb longer wavelengths (LOWER FREQUENCIES) with lower energy! Hope that answers your questio
