Hi I'm making a super soil mix and I watched most videos, I think that the soil I'm making is closest to yours. You have the most diverse beneficial microbes and bacteria in my opinion. I'm still adding stuff as it arrives! Going to give a good mix and water, let it sit and enfuse. Good mix!👍

Great. Hope it helps out. Check out my most recent video on Re Amending Soil. It is a little different and also having great results with it.

The existing used bag soil still has some in there. It seems to drain fine still. Pumice is good though

@GrowingOrganicTvShow2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is true if you raise your own animals and know what they are eating. Most factory farms are using gmo corn and soy to feed animals.

They are pretty good about not mixing in any toxic ingredients. Also it is heated to like 150 degrees so it kills any pathogens

Hey dude! Great vid + intro as always. If I had to add anything it would be hemp protein powder and also Calcium bentonite clay (great for increasing both micro nutritional content and retention). Also silver/quartz sand is a good secondary aeration ingredient and ive heard it also increases the electrical conductivity of the soil
@GrowingOrganicTvShow3 жыл бұрын
I will have to try some of these. Yes the electrical conductivity would be great. I been looking into that. Quartz is very conductive. I will look for a source to buy some silver quartz sand. Good idea. It is similar to "Earthing or Grounding" I may make a video about it. Thanks

Watch out for that landfill compost...dont know whats in that...chemicals, fuel, oil, glycophosphate, etc
@GrowingOrganicTvShow3 жыл бұрын
I agree but I think it is in a very small amount. They take great pride in creating quality compost at their facility. It also cooks at 150 degrees for days and kills anything in it. I am assuming it is decent especially since it is free source. Buying bagged compost from a pro grow store is best but gets expensive. This is for someone on a extreme budget.
@tsant65913 жыл бұрын
Great video, and thanks because it's got a lot of the key components! I would add water and let it cook for a month or so. I'm doing this in the spring. It's expensive, but worth it. Did you put any Perlite? Or maybe I missed that.
@GrowingOrganicTvShow3 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea to add water and let sit for a while. Yeah some of the old potting soil had perlite in there. My mix worked pretty well on my veggies. Good luck with your mix
@toastiesburned99292 жыл бұрын
I used pumice and clay pellets because they don't break down over time, I also added a bunch of rice hulls for aeration and silica, but they'll break down over time, by then the worms and roots will be doing their thing, I also threw in a bit of pearlite and a handful of vermiculite, just for good measure, and I already had it.

How much super soil will you get at the end? I have two 2" x 8' x 14" deep raised bed. I need to know is the end product enough to fill my raised bed?
@GrowingOrganicTvShow2 жыл бұрын
I would only use the good soil on the top 12 or 16". Use some tree logs or organic debris to fill the bottom. It is called hugerculture. It helps save money. I think the trash cans are 50 gallons but have to do the math to calc sq ft.

I put a link in the description where you can purchase these organic fertilizers, amendments and nutrients.

@GrowingOrganicTvShow4 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree. I also use the Mycos, but I add it into my compost tea mix. I will be doing a new video on compost tea. Yes the charcoal is good too but expensive. I had some perlite already mixed in from some bags of soil I bought.

You think that compost from the land fill has any genetically modified organisms?
@GrowingOrganicTvShow3 жыл бұрын
You might be right but if you are on an extreme budget it is still very good. I think after they heat the piles to 160 degrees for weeks it kills all pathogens but not sure about the gmos. I think it probably does because it cooks everything down to a carbon base. Good question though. Again it is not my best choice but it is still much better than buying from the store. I usually don't use to much of it unless maybe for a fruit tree where I need alot of soil or planting other non edible plants and trees (landscape plants)

Check Amazon for the Down to Earth line. What is the benefit of using insect frass?
@GrowingOrganicTvShow4 жыл бұрын
It has "Chitin". Only found in insects and some sea life. Chitin stimulates the plant's defense response leading to increased resistance to pests and disease, replenished microbe populations and boosted yields at harvest.

What's up man great vedio btw how much did the soil mix cost? And how much did each if these meals cost?

I would have to add this up but it is cheaper than buying bags of the soil that is for sure. I left some links below in the description with prices. I got some of this at my local grow store.

Can you grow from see in this or will it burn the seeds up

You might be ok or you could dilute the mix with some used potting soil. Seeds don't need much at the beginning stages.

Wish we could still purchase the Ancient Forest. It’s a lil heavy mix . It’s light and airy now cuz it’s dry. Soon as you add water it’s gonna add 10 times the weight. If not more. Some rice hulls , perlite , clay pellets all 3 woulda lightened it up. Personally I think it’s way too much fertilizer as well. Love the mix but about half or even a 3rd woulda been plenty. I weigh my fertilizer out. It all gets added after weighed and mixed together by themselves then added to the compost / castings mixed again then added into the soil base and mixed 1 more time. Gets more consistent mix through and through. Just my personal preference and opinion. You’re mix is great just I think you could be slightly more cost effective with it. Thanks for sharing..
@GrowingOrganicTvShow2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have not found the Ancient Forest in the grow store anymore. I wonder if discontinued. bummer. Yes I agree it does hold water weight but it has benefits like not having to water so often. I do want to get some clay pellets though. The mix did pretty well. watch the video on how i grew 15ft pole beans.

Should be adding neem meal and insect Frass... also some expanded clay balls and some perlite
@mohammedkaleb10062 жыл бұрын
You can also use natural lump charcoal, not as good as activates but still a nice easy cheap add, and if you want to make it better, you can put the charcoal in a pressure cooker with water up to the grate but not soaking the charcoal and then cook it until the steam stops coming out (gotta watch it close other wise it might cause something undesirable to happen)
@GrowingOrganicTvShow2 жыл бұрын
Yes I think I added the insect frass. Lot of people say the neem meal is good. I will add that. Some of the clay balls are good too mix in small amount. The existing soil has perlite already.
@GrowingOrganicTvShow2 жыл бұрын
Yes the activated charcoal is so expensive. Is that regular ashes from a fire place or campfire?

Thanks, Yes good idea but i usually make a compost worm tea and add the molasses and mycos to the tea. Also the mycos should bu used during transplanting on sprinkled on and around the root ball during planting ideally.
