Management practices that promote soil health are the foundation of Canadian organic production standards. Ideally, these practices lead to regenerative outcomes, like reducing reliance on environmentally risky nutrient inputs and storing carbon in the soil. But there are still unanswered questions about the affects of different soil health practices, especially across BC's diverse growing conditions.
Hear about the results from nine years of soil health trials on organic mixed vegetable farms. Results will be discussed in the context of a new four-year trial that aims to improve regenerative outcomes and will be looking at conservation tillage in addition to nutrient management and cover cropping.
Funding for this workshop was provided by CleanBC and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
