I absolutely love your videos Pedro. What a refreshing change to see videos about physical media made by someone who clearly loves film and knows what they are talking about. I get so fed up of seeing videos of what people have bought but they have nothing to say about the films. We have recently moved house which has given me the opportunity to finally organise my collection in the two new billy bookcases I have bought. What I have done is organised most of my movies by my favourite genres which are horror, sci~fi, Asian horror and martial arts. I also have my boutique labels stored together - 88 films, Arrow, Shameless etc. There is obviously some overlap between genre and label but I just put them in the category which suits me best. Everything else, which is generally Hollywood stuff is just collected together and organised alphabetically. This system might not work for everyone but it enables me to go straight to any film that I want. Keep the videos coming mate they are always a great watch!

I organise my collection A-Z with the Television shows separately, I do have a bookcase with the HMV collection in but I’m considering incorporating them in to the regular collection. I’m the same..NO gaps on the shelves 👍😃👍

I just put all standard titles alphabetical. Only exceptions are for example the Dark Knight & Dark Knight Rises will go next to Batman Begins instead of being in the “D” section or all the MCU films go together in release order. Also labels like Arrow all go together

Thank you. I don't actually organize my movies. I just put a small sticker with a number on them and place them in the order I buy them. The organization is done in an Excel database where I add each title with the director, year, genre, and even actors. This lets me print the information in different ways without reorganizing my entire collection every time I add a new title...I also enjoy organizing my movies, but creating my database doesn't take away the fun. Plus, it gives me different ways to store my movies and save space.

I am a madman that organizes sometimes by director, sometimes by label, sometimes by color of the spine, sometimes just the vibe of the movie, sometimes by country of origin but never alphabetically

“Something I wanted to talk about, I missed placed it now because I’m a fucking idiot” Duh! 😂😂 funniest thing I’ve heard in awhile!

Interesting video. I've sorted my blu rays by directors and put the earliest films I own that each did into alphabetical order. The rest of their films go chronologically by release date after this. The exception to this is when a film feels like it's more part of a franchise than part of a director's filmography. In that case they go after the director of the first film's list. This helps with buying box sets and collections.

22:16 the way I organize is completely different than most. Minus set up like a library. Every movie I have on my shelf has a number on the bottom of the spine that I put there using a label maker. As I purchased new movies I give them new numbers there is an app I use called Movies pro and in the app, I use my tablet to locate Movies. I can organize it in the tablet by genre by decade or year of release or certain actors however I want to search for the title and then it just tells me what spine number on the shelf to look for kind of like a traditional library

I have my movies in binders according to format and then alphabetized (I throw away all extraneous packaging). Except boxsets that I have grouped by label.

I always keep DVDs together and Boxsets together apart from my regular Blu-ray’s. I also make sure everything is alphabetical

One of my big fears is pissing people off when I talk about criterion I would love to own a lot more movies that are put out by the criterion collection. However, yeah, I also feel the same way most of the films they put out are so obscure and crazy and out of there, don’t seem like anything I’d be interested in watching I’ve purchased a couple of random ones blind by, and getting rid of them because it’s just not my thing. 11:43

There is always a dominant genre in a film that spans two or more. Sort the film into that genre. Example: Blazing Saddles, that's comedy dominant, western secondary.
@Palfy18Ай бұрын
You could create a spreadsheet, list all your movies with columns of meta data like genre, director, dvd etc. You can then sort, group, count to gain an insight into your collection.

ive never found a good way of organising,if you do alphabetical then you end up with prometheus miles away from alien etc.and if you go by film company sometimes a sequel could be released by another company

I organise via actors and I put blu rays with DVDs

Good luck 😅 I think every collector has there own bizarre logic of organising. For me I have a wall of A-z movies that I love to re watch, a couple of shelves just for comedy as if I'm in the mood for comedy it's easier to browse, a set of smaller shelves for some boutique titles, a separate wall for mostly horror titles, with again a couple of shelves just for 'classic movies' that don't fall into any of the above categories for me. See, mental. But it works for me 😎👍🏻

No matter how you organise, there will be contradictions. That's why the principles of organising must have a weight of importance. I keep my Arrow Blu-rays in one place, but I also have a shelf for J-Horror which I love! So, Arrow's J-Horror releases (Ring, Ju-On etc.) are in the J-Horror shelf. The J-Horror shelf "overrides" the Arrow place for these releases. Spielberg is my favourite director. I have all his movies in the release order (Indiana Jones boxset is in the place of the first movie) and the 8 movie Director's Collection is "bookending" as the last. Then I have the George Lucas & Star Wars section with THX1138, American Graffiti and the Star Wars movies. So, there are some things needed that just make sense and feels right. I have to say I have a lot of movies that are not well organised, but a lot of is, mostly the stuff that is most important for me.

Genre and then alphabetized inside those. I will also have director sections in chronological order as well.

You probably do, but do you like the Bourne movies? Specifically the original Bourne Trilogy. Those movies made me a Matt Damon fan.
@CineApocalypseOnlineАй бұрын
I do like them, infact they're on the bookcase behind Me. I have the first 3 Matt Damon movies and Bourne Legacy. Still need to get the last Bourne film though.
@babgar7295Ай бұрын
Isn't Shaft (criterion collection) first film only, the three films is a Warner triple set.
