My pantry gets a complete makeover and you will not believe the transformation! I use mainly dollar tree bins in my pantry. These bins are actually really pretty and saved me so much money! I also used some clear containers from Ikea which come in two different sizes and an acrylic spice rack that I will link below. I hope you all enjoy!

once something expires it doesn't turn toxic. you can still eat food after it has expired as long as it is not stale and doesn't have mold. that's wasting food.

For expiration dates, you could cut off that bit of the packaging, then tape it to an inconspicuous spot on the reusable container. It's simpler, easier to update when you buy new products, and is easier to reference. Someone else suggested chalkboard labels on the canisters, which would probably look nicer, but requires additional supplies.

For expiration dates you can take chalkboard stickers. You can write it with chalk and then rewrite whenever you need.

What I did was placed a chalk board label at the back of IKEA container and wrote down expiration date. Its easier access and you don’t have to write separately. I love your pantry thou

Pinterest has some really clever ideas for organizing under the sink, including installing a dowel and hanging your cleaning products that come in spray bottles from their handles. There are also a lot of ideas for making optimum use of the inside of the doors.

Great Idea writing down the expiration dates in a notebook. I dont care as much for them bc their are just guidelines for me most of the food is still fine and its sad how many people loose track of all the items they have at home and use the exp date to throw it away :/

I noticed you have a wee one at home. If life gets too busy to keep up with your pretty expiration list you can alway take a small piece of masking tape and put it on the bottom of the container and just write the date on that. You will not be able to see the tape everyday but it will be there when you need it and it is removable when time to change the contents of the container. Great job on the pantry!

We moved from a big house, where I had 2 rooms for my pantry (they were so big you literally walked into both of them!) into a townhouse where my pantry is 5 shelves. Another great idea for exp dates when you use containers is to get a water based sharpie marker. You can write the date on the container. When the container is empty, just wash the date off and it’s ready for the next item to go in the container.

As someone who cooks a lot from scratch, I have a lot more ingredients to store than I am seeing in this video. But I think I'd actually have enough room in a pantry of her size, as long as I kept things organized... nuts, dried fruits, sweeteners, different kinds of rice, different kinds of grains, baking items (i.e. baking soda, baking powder, arrowroot). Again, jars work better for me than those Ikea containers. My favorites to repurpose are spaghetti sauce jars that look like canning jars. I also store my different flours in my freezer.

For the expiration dates we cut it off and slide it in the container or front pocket of container. In my new containers I used chalkboard paint and can erase and write as needed.

I don't have an official pantry in my home, so all of my items are in my overhead kitchen cupboards, I am slowly transferring everything to clear bins because I am the type of person that needs to see what I have, I don't want to think I have a lot of rice for instance and then find out my kid has put the box back empty. (speaking from experience) I put the expiration date on the top of the container with a wet erase marker so I can update it as needed, not that food lasts that long in a house with 3 boys and a husband. lol

I am too impatient to write down expiration dates. I label things in my kitchen using masking tape and write things like "opened May 5 2018" on a piece, cut it neatly and attach it to the lid of the jar I put the food in. I like to use/re-use glass jars for storing any kind of grain or cereal or flour. I think jars keep foods fresher, longer. I also will cut the label from the package... i.e. coffee, rice, cereal... and use clear tape to attach that to the jar. And if I think I will need directions for cooking the item, i.e. quinoa or a pasta mix or other foods I don't cook often, I cut the instructions from the box or package or plastic bag and put it right into the jar with the food item. It doesn't look "stylish" like this pantry with coordinated containers, but it gets the job done. I also will use empty coffee cans for storage, and yes, even those cute (empty) gelato jars she uses and again, just write on a wide strip of masking tape with a colorful permanent marker (I like green!) My method could be an inbetween step if you are saving up to buy nicer containers. You also can get very cheap wicker baskets from someplace like the Salvation Army store... just choose the size that will fit in your pantry (maybe premeasure your shelves). I bought a huge bag full for $5 on a sale day. I also am going to try something I found on Pinterest, which is to use those large soda can boxes for canned goods - they roll out like a dispenser. And as for spices, I have a Lazy Susan on the bottom shelf of my kitchen cabinets, which works well for me, easy to grab what I need while cooking. Less frequently used items are stored in a drawer in a bureau I use in my kitchen (very little storage space in my kitchen). I got the bureau from someone else for free. So, there are ways to do things very inexpensively and still be organized.

I use glass jars -- small, medium and large -- a lot of them are repurposed from products I bought. I have the same gelato jars she used for her bag clips and candy canes. I also get empty plastic chewing gum holders from a friend of mine. They're about the size of 5x3 index card and about 3/4 inch wide... they're great for little things. I even use one in my purse to hold change.

Instead of writing the pantry expiration dates on a piece of paper why don't you get chalkboard labels and write them on there. That way as the dates change you don't have to keep making new lists! You can also use them to tell you whats in what container.
