I am an antique dealer and have decorated hundreds of trees for charity events over the years. Now, I have kept only the very best for my home trees. I have purchased foam pouches for china and glassware and also bubble wrap pouches on Amazon. This has made packing away all my super fragile glass ornaments a breeze. It was an investment. I have over 1000 ornaments. But it is actually a pleasure to pack my beautiful items, knowing next year nothing will be broken. Wrapping items individually in bubble wrap almost did me in. I have one tree completely covered in antique chandelier prisms of all sizes, lengths and weight. The glassware foam pouches keep them very safe. Your long mushroom ornaments would wrap well in the glassware pouches. Smaller ornaments fit nicely in the cup foam pouches. I also use totes that seal. Thank God for that. We had a flooded basement in 2020 but my ornaments were up high and the totes were sealed so they were saved.

Yes, everything goes into totes. My basement flooded in 2020 but everything survived in waterproof hard plastic sterlite totes. The clear type totes cracked with the water pressure.

My mom painted a enormous amounts of folk art Santa’s. They covered the walls and the open soffits above the kitchen cabinets. One year she just kept them up in the kitchen and never took them down. They actually looked great and it was a much easier way to store them as they were all a good size and made of wood. But it is quite magical to start the decorating every fall. Love your videos!

When I moved to France, I went through all my Christmas decorations. I took one box with us, gave away a lot of what I didn’t like anymore and gave all my son’s childhood ornaments to him! We have added as we’ve lived here for 7 years, but no where near to the level you have!

I pack my glass ornaments in a large container, but I pCk each one in bubble wrap. Time consuming but I enjoy taking each one out of its wrap, and think about each one.

Caleb thanks for this video. Takes me 2 days to carefully pack away Christmas then a day to clean up all the dust and glitter. I’ve always removed and thrown away the wire hangers. I don’t want my ornaments scratched. I use tissue paper to cushion the glass ornaments. And I use bubble wrap to pack up the other Christmas decor. I’ve gotta locate the thin bubble wrap for next Christmas. I wish I had a basement for storage. Here in North Texas basements are very rare. Attics get too hot for storage. We keep the trees in the garden shed and the rest is stored in the closet of a third bedroom.

I use cardboard boxes from state liquor stores, already has dividers, heavy duty, ask nicely, FREE, boxes are different sizes but so manageable

I didn't set up any Christmas this year. I lived vicariously through you, but I also need to make memory boxes for my griwn children. My husband and I are try to make like more simple. We don't have good physical anything at this point . I could use your help.

One year I must have had to work and my husband and kids put the tree away. The next year, however, I found that all my Avon ornaments, Hallmark ornaments, any that had a box --- THEY THREW THE BOXES AWAY!!!! I now am the only one that puts everything in the tubs.

I am one of the Type A crazies who still packs many of my ornaments in their original boxes. It literally takes me two full days to take my tree down with all that re-boxing. I just bought some smaller, clear bins (I'm getting too old to hoist the casket sized crates anymore!) and I'm going to try really hard next year to give up individually re-boxing my ornaments. Someone also suggested flattening the original boxes If I must keep them, and storing them separately? We'll see. Appreciated this video, though! I'm happy to see ornaments will survive without their original boxes! Happy New Year!

I enjoyed this - I pack pretty carefully as well using bubble wrap and soft tissue paper. I'm always adding to my ornament collection each year and having to expand my storage. I did like your smaller bins - I may try them. I also like the suggestion of bubble wrap pouches from another commentor. Question for you - which side of the bubble wrap goes on the inside? I remember you mentioning this in one of your videos - I had no idea there was an inside and outside to it.

Try not to use tissue paper if storing in a basement. The tissue will become musty after a while. I also keep my hooks on the ornaments when I pack. I really appreciate your videos. I will be buying those smaller totes.
