I love the inclusion of all four houses and the transitions! My family constantly pokes fun at me as I am 50 years old and have magical displays all over my home office. What can I say, it makes me happy. I've also been told "Harry Potter is over, you missed the boat"... clearly there are plenty of us still on board so thank you for sharing!

My whole house is slowly becoming HP themed. I'm painting rooms as the house colors, one bathroom is Ministry themed, the other will be Honeydukes themed, kitchen is inspired by the Burrow. Hogwarts is my home and I'm turning my home into Hogwarts!

@@kayz-art That would be awesome, I actually only live a few hours away from Peter. However, my home is nowhere near finished. My house was my dad's fencing business, which he converted to a residential home. When he passed away a couple of years ago, I took over the renovations. I am working with the bare bones of a house and doing all the interior on my own. I still have flooring, paint, baseboards, ceilings, and a million other little things I have to complete before it's ready to show. But it's coming along, just slowly since I'm not using outside help. Perhaps in a couple of years it will reflect my standards and love of the wizarding world and I will showcase it!

Peter....you are not alone!! And if you cannot get into your library to be with your collection then that defeats the whole reason for collecting which is enjoyment. I used to collect rare vinyl LPs in the 70s and 80s and found out this for myself. Prune your collection - you will feel better. 🙂 I'm a Ravenclaw btw.

I like that philosophy. I had a lot I mean a lot of harry potter figures. All the original mattels, neca, funko pops, cards, bust and many more. I would say 80-90% where in boxes and I felt overwhelmed. I nearly sold about two totes of stuff already and it's a great feeling to let these items get the enjoyment they deserve. Also using those funds to buy a harry potter grail item

Your collection is amazing! Weve watched you for a long time now, this is my first time commenting. I just wanted to provide a tiny tip, museum wax is great for holding things in place without leaving any imperfections. Easly removable and holds things in place really well. Museums use it to hold displays together, hints the name lol. You are awesome and you show us so many HP artifacts that i never knew existed. Im primarily a kpop collector but I've been in the process of remodeling my spare room to really hold as much of the stuff i wanna keep as possible without cluttering it back up. I'd love to know what you find for unique options for storage and display!

If you’d like some light on top of the shelves you can get string lights that you’d put on a Christmas tree and place them all the way around behind everything. It would give it a nice glow if you chose warm white instead of regular white. You can also tape the lights down if you don’t want the bulbs showing

I have a Zelda collection and I don't reorganize often, but I did for 2022 and 2023. It's quite refreshing changing things up and seeing how by just moving things over, or just facing it a different way, you can suddenly get more space to put more stuff OR display items better.

As a collector of toys, dolls, and action figures, I’m glad I’m not alone in feeling this way. I always find myself doing clear outs of my stuff and regularly go to swap meets as a seller and also sell online.

This actually gave me some inspiration for when I renovate my Walk-In Closet / Office ! My boyfriend and I don’t necessarily collect a lot of items but what we do have should be displayed as beautifully as the rest of our decor. Some of these tips are really helpful including the double-sided tape and super gluing items to the ceiling 😅❤

I got in a bad funk right before Christmas, I don't know why but I knew January is normally my slow month, so I took the time to reorganize my sewing room and gave it a huge overhaul and it REALLY helped my mood. My room stays trashed from Oct to the end of December with me getting Christmas orders out so it was really needed anyway lol But I feel so much better and now I really need a shelf to display the bags I created this year so when I get stumped, I can look at what I've already created and encourage myself to keep going. I just finished a Bertie botts every flavor bean book bag and I'm so proud of it and keep looking at it lol. Your room looks amazing, and I hope it helps you feel better about going into that room.

My shelfs are in their current state for like 10 years. Each section has a theme (first to 7 books) or Horcruxes, potions of course, dark arts etc… and I don’t want to change it, it’s so organized!

I’m a Hufflepuff. 💛 I’m sad the divination cup and the Hedwig puppet didn’t make it. I think it would be a cool idea if you kept some of the stuff that didn’t make it this time in storage so that way you have different things to change it up next time you reorganize your display items.

Peter it looks great!! The whole time though I was thinking how awesome it would look if you mounted light strips on the walls just above the top of the bookcases behind the items so you can softly backlight the collection and eliminate some of the shadows.

Looks incredible. Suggestion - consider installing strip LED lights on top of your shelves behind the items to illuminate everything. I think it would look great!

I just started to organize over Christmas break because I had to admit I couldn't fit it all in my office any more. I created a cool HP bedroom upstairs & bought some new shelves for my office. It looks really cool & now I have more space. But arraigning & rearranging will happen for a long time after you reshelf things lol

Get on of the remote operated flexible light strips and put it behind the items on the top shelf to help with the lighting! Some of those lights allow you to change the colors too.

Have you thought of fairy led lights on a timer or puck lights for the dark spaces on top ? And floating candles and interdepartmental memos hanging from the ceiling on clear fishing line? Would also add more light…just a thought..It looks Amazing!!!

Few suggestions if you're open. I dunno if the he books held together by a rubber band are strictly for display or if you're gonna add them to your overall library collection at some point or whatever, but the rubber band is gonna leave an imprint on the covers so you might wanna get clear acrylic book ends for them. If not them stick with the rubber bands. Also painters tape would be better to use for double sided tape for the paper stuff you have, if you haven't already. Less likelihood of rips and residue when taking them off. Collection looks great.

I am a hufflepuff and love the hufflepuff section! My favorite is the Ravenclaw section. I am a Squishmallow collector and redo my collection for holidays and when I get new squish or do a clean out

Very nice vignettes! I have a couple of suggestions though. Instead of gluing things to the ceiling or wall command strips and hooks work wonders. They have different styles, strengths, and weight limits depending on what you want to hang or attach. The best part of all is they won't damage your paint or items you want to hang, minus paper that isn't laminated. They hold extremely well and when you want to remove them they come off super easy with no damage. Another thing you can do to hang lighter things is to buy "clear" flat thumbtacks or hooks and a small roll of clear fishing line and hang them from that. I can't see the rest of the room but the brooms would look awesome if they were used as part of window treatment. :)

You can also use sewing thread with pins or something to attach the things with, as well as you use mirrors to create illusions and depth in the environment... that was also a thought that struck me.

I think it looks great! Love how you keep an eye out for vertical space. The only thing I would be worried about is the box near the heating vent. Since we use our heater here a lot, we try to keep stuff away from it. I really like the way you did the Ravenclaw section. Well done Peter!!!

I’ve always loved the Harry Potter franchise, but I’ve never actually read the book until recently. Ever since November, I’ve been reading them all and I’m halfway through Prisoner Of Azkaban. I’m loving how much more detail the books have and it’s making me love the series even more, especially since I’ve been getting into the series a lot more recently thanks to watching a lot of KZbinr’s videos on the series.

Ravenclaw here, great job on the decorating and you've given me some ideas, thx. For any established library of any kind it takes time and often broken into multiple sessions to reorganize, shift or move items, and build placements for additions. Doing this part of the process can feel overwhelmingly like a Triwizard Tournament task, but worth it in the end. Myself and my house elf pals are tackling my office/library beast soon so I don't feel like I'm sitting in a cross between the room of requirement and a forgotten closet at the Lovegood house. And I love the organized chaos!

This is soooo my style of display!! I love an organized “clutter” look when displaying my (kpop) collection and I tend to switch it up every season!! It’s easier because my shelf & collection is smaller so I can change it out sooner but if I had a collection as big as this I can see why it’d be exhausting and overwhelming to change it up frequently. Peter you know how you said it is dark up there on top of the shelves? What if you put some of the flat tape leds flat down on the front edge of the book shelves which would cast light up to all the pieces. You can put a dimmer on it so you aren't blasting them with light and the fun feature is you can change the color at will. I would buy a roll so instead of a bunch of sections of light, you can run it all around the top and run it off one circuit. Just a thought - John

We are on the same wave length. Last night I decided to get rid of some of my celebrity dolls that have been sitting in my closet for years and there is no room to display them due to being in a small apartment. I have a Harry Potter themed room that looks like a Hogwarts Common Room and basically Harry Potter has taken over the room. I contacted Boys and Girls Club to come get this stuff and other household possessions. I am working on putting up a portrait wall and have found great sleeping portraits on Etsy. I have always loved the portrait walls and now I am creating a space for it.

I really like this vlog. Just about all collecting videos on KZbin focus on adding to the collection, mass consumerism and showing and telling. But I also enjoy your thoughtfulness on how you cultivate your collection and display it, so you get the most out of what you own and actually enjoy it.
