I love how your father brings you little gifts. Too bad he doesn't want to stay and chat a bit, but maybe providing is his "love language" towards others. Thank you for accepting his gifts with graciousness. He seems very old school and that is charming to me. My own father didn't do that sort of thing, but held the same ideal of men as providers. In his case, we needed to ask for what we needed/wanted and he would somehow make it happen but on his timetable. Sort of a gift but not really. In his later years, he couldn't go anywhere alone and became dependent on others for his every need. He eventually forgot how to ask and could no longer speak for himself. A very tragic way of ending a very independent and robust life. I will never wish Alzheimer's disease or dementia on anyone, not even someone who has been cruel to me. I hope you can enjoy your papa for as long as you are able.

My dad passed away almost 4 years ago. He was like your dad. He came to bring food. Just like you I was irritated at first. But later I found joy and happiness in it, because he cared for me and it was his way to say I love you. I miss you dad. 🥲

I wish I could read your language, the labels seem so minimal and effective!

One year I bought a set of 12 lipsticks but didn't use them since I wasn't sure of the colors or how much was inside each tube. I intentionally bought the mini jam jars, removed the jam, put it in another jar, and ate that. Then washed the jars, and transferred the lipsticks into the jam jars --- one stick per jar. I store them upside down so I can see the colors in the original box (which I turned inside out and labeled). I felt very satisfied. Now, 2-3 years later, I have found that there is probably one or 2 lipsticks that actually look good on me. The jars while cute are awkward to fit in a purse since they are a bit bulky. But I do know the colors that work for me. I use a lipstick brush to apply them and it works very nicely. So now I have about 5-8 lipsticks in jars that I need to deal with! At some point I will, but I likely will keep the clean, empty jars. I find myself repurposing things routinely.

I started hand dishwashing as I felt it was a better way to clean the dishes and I use the dishwasher to store the wet dishes until they are dry. I am only paying to heat the water not to run the machine this way. Its good exercise, too. To reduce the number of dishes needed to be washed, I reduced the number available on the shelf. I don't do a manicure but can use hotter water with dishwashing gloves. I bought gloves that are thicker than normally available hoping they will last longer. I believe they have but still they break down and start leaking. Oh well.

It is very helpful to know that silicone is not recyclable/reusable. There seems to be an invasion of silicone products happening in the USA. People feel so much better using it instead of plastic (bags, wrap, etc.) I have even cut up silicone dishwashing gloves to make rubber bands (which I have used a few of, but likely won't use them up). Now, I have more pairs of silicone dishwashing gloves...What can I do with them when they start to leak? Can I put super glue on them to mend them? Use them to start plants? Sort coins into them? I am making a joke but I am serious, too. There has to be a better way.
