I absolutely adore Ori and the Blind Forest and its soundtrack, and I've spent a huge amount of time over the last couple of months trying to create an arrangement that does the original soundtrack justice. I love everything about this game - the game-play is silky smooth and responsive, the art and sound design is stunningly beautiful, and the soundtrack by Gareth Coker is seriously incredible. I'd really recommend it, it was a real joy to play through. With this orchestral suite, I focused mainly on trying to re-capture the sense of mystery and playfulness that the original tracks manage to convey so perfectly.
A lot of the main melodies of this suite are from a number of tracks throughout the soundtrack, but the particular tracks used for reference were:

Hi Laura, I'm not sure how, but ... I've never heard this cover and I thought I'd heard almost all of them. I guess there's a handful that may have slipped through the cracks, anyway... ...You did an amazing job. For me the art of a good arrangement is being able to clearly recognize the original, but also making it your own. You've captured the spirit of the soundtrack here and the arrangement to me feels like an original piece. This is really great, and thank you so much for covering the soundtrack. When I look back at all of the arrangements I've worked on over the past few years, this one is without a doubt my favourite for how much fun the process of arranging was. I was really inspired by your original soundtrack and the way it so seamlessly melted into the incredible feel of the game itself, and in working on this I really tried to recapture that sense of life and excitement that's abundant in every track of the soundtrack. I thought most of the covers just repeated the melody of the game's "all-round" theme, being Light of Nibel/escape tunes; but this brings out the more under-appreciated melodies, and I respect that. It's hard to find original covers for this game.

Ah, this is still one of my all-time favorite covers of the game's already gorgeous soundtrack. Wonderful and beautifully crafted arrangement, I honestly wouldn't even be surprised to hear this in the official OST! Now then, I have to ask - I'm actually genuinely having trouble figuring out if these are real instruments or digital soundfonts, they're just that good! I myself am slowly figuring out the ropes of gamedev, and I also wanna take a spin at composing the score since I have had a fairly decent amount of musical education (and am told that I have a good ear for arranging and composing) - so, here comes the thousand-dollar question: what do you use to create your arrangements? I don't even mean this in a "tell me all your secrets immediately so I can copy what you do" way, goodness no. I'm just really curious in general, and any tips I dig up online and find from other more experienced composers would hopefully help me pick out my own route from the options I have! You're an inspiration to me (and many, many others, I'm sure) and it seems you've had a fair amount of experience with these arrangements/covers, so I felt it'd be worth a shot to ask. You're certainly not obligated to respond to some random youtube commenter who showed up in your inbox one day on a video that's already years old, I understand and respect that, but in case you do feel inclined to offer a helping hand (or just even a single suggestion on where to find more research), I'm all ears!
