interesting about the buckle - my concern was how easily could the bag be stolen by someone opening the buckle and snatching the bag - so I think the way the buckle opens helps preventing this

The buckle is actually a cobra clip the same kinds they use in the military for parachutes. Very very sturdy and expensive I believe a friend of mine who crafts leather goods told me they wholesale for around 25$ per buckle.
