I think they are paintings. And the black backgrounds make the colors bolder. I'm using it for daily draws and loving it.💜

How sweet that your son gifted you a deck! 😍 I agree, I also like to know why specific imagery was chosen in a deck as well. 🤔 Oof, boxes that divide the deck into two piles is a huge pet peeve of mine! Publishers, just don't, please! 😣 The Justice and 6 of Wands cards are stunning! I love owls and peacocks! 🦉🦚The colors in this deck are really appealing! Not a deck I own or plan on getting but I always appreciate a flip through of any deck! Thanks for sharing! 🌹xo

I just got this deck a few days ago and I am SO in love. It is sitting next to me right now, carrying it around with me like a security blanket. I do believe it is pronounced so it rhymes with "Orients". Oriens is Latin for sunrise or the dawn.

Hi, Amy!! How lovely your son gifted you this deck!❤ The Magician and the Wheel of Fortune are so gorgeous, I also love peacocks! I don't get the Hierophant with Aries, the astrological association is Taurus... hmmm, thats a little annoying! Other than that, the deck is beautiful but most definitely I do not understand why the author chose certain animals to represent certain cards... still, absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Loved your walk through Amy! I have the Indie version of this deck and one of the few things that bugged me was the Ram for the Hierophant. The Ram is Aries in in turn The Emperor and the Hierophant is Taurus, I get that the creator used a bull for the King of Pentacles but it seems like that's the only court card that's been assigned an animal linked to its Zodiacal correlation. Have lots of fun getting to know it 💜

As soon as I watched the playback, I thought, duh Emperor is Aries- all of the rams on his throne. I'm so not an astrology person and even I noticed ram didn't go with Hierophant! That's why I would like the guidebook to explain.💜
