It's a beautiful watch. It's not cheap. It's Affordable

I've owned a ray 2 for 4 years now. It's a wonderful watch to wear, the bezel loosens up after about 2 years. This baby is running about +8 a day. I've had no problem with the watch in 4 years. I did change the crystal because the original mineral crystal scratched like hell. I put in a new sapphire crystal and it is beautiful.

Sapphire swap is a super good idea and a fairly easy self mod. Did you go with a domed or flat crystal? I gave mine away to a friend as a new father gift but he is the kind of man who will beat the crap out of it and that is why I got him the Orient. It’s made to do a job 😁

I've had a blue Ray 2 for over 3 years now and it's still running great. I love the watch. I did some minor mods to mine. I installed a double dome sapphire crystal, a coin edge bezel, and a lumed sapphire bezel insert. Just today I put on a solid end link jubilee. With these minor upgrades it's an amazing watch.

I’m sure the coin edge bezel and new insert made a big difference. The coin edge bezels are always my favorite. It’s always nice to make a watch the way you wish it was from the factory.

@@rightwristonly8796 yeah it’s great to make improvements to your watch. Not only does it look better but you get connected to the watch making you appreciate it even more.

The bezel on my Orient Ray 2 is perfectly smooth and really easy to turn and it was like that since I bought it 2 years ago. You probably got an earlier model because Orient DID fix it in later production models, I think after 2017. And about the lume. It IS the same as Seiko lume. My watchmaker regulated the movement and it is now +- 1 second a day at all times.

Glad to hear they resolved the bezel stiffness. I think the difference I see between the orient lume and Seiko is the amount that Seiko applies to many of their dials. That’s a great accuracy, good for you 👍🏼

@@rightwristonly8796 I wanted to buy SKX009 at first but honestly Orient Ray 2 is better in every way. Signed crown, hacking, handwinding, applied indices, smaller case...I myself like the smaller watches, I think 40mm is perfect for everyones wrist and this one looks and wears like 40 although is 41.5mm. Saphire glass is the only thing missing in my opinion, everything else is perfect. Best looking diver I have ever seen.

Absolutely love my Black dial Ray 2. People always think it’s a Tag Heuer…🤗

I gave this one to a friend who is hard on everything he owns and as far as I know it is still kicking. Much better looking then an skx or seiko 5 too

dude, the date didn't line up because you were trying to change it in the "danger zone". you should never change the day or date between 8pm and 4am. you're lucky you didn't break something
@rightwristonly87964 жыл бұрын
Your right I did set the date before 4am. Although I think many people overreact to that rule. On vintage I totally understand. On a brand new movement that was just released it’s less of a danger zone and more of a lazy engineering zone as it’s been a problem for decades. Pleasantly noting was damaged. I honesty wasn’t even thinking about that time frame when I was checking out the watch. This is a fair callout.

@@rightwristonly8796 it doesn't matter if it's vintage or new, nor is it lazy engineering. changing the day and/or date takes energy. lower end movements like this orient is a simple efficient design, the downside is, it takes a long time to flip. higher end movements will flip the day and/or date at 12 so fast you can barely see. this is because it is a complex design that may use a series of gears leavers and clutches to make a quick flip.
@rightwristonly87964 жыл бұрын
I understand the difference between affordable movements and higher end movements and that higher end movements have more work put into their development. I still think it’s lazy. If you are orient and you are building a new movement make the effort to make it better then existing movements. One way to make it a better movement, remove the possibility of human error ( like my human error ) on things like a date change. They replaced a movement that needed an additional pusher to change the date on the original ray with one that does not require that additional pusher so they are capable of positive design change. Maybe it’s not lazy but a lack of effort in an area that would be beneficial to their customers. In the end I still think it’s a great watch regardless of if they made it idiot proof for me or not.

@@rightwristonly8796 well, you can't have your cake and eat it too. if you start making more complex movements the price will reflect that.
