Absolutely beautiful. One of the most sophisticated dances that I have seen. Persian culture is extremely under-rated.

This is undoubtedly the best Persian dance performance I have seen. Unfortunately, while our traditional costumes and art of dance have historically inspired peoples from western China to India and the Caucasus, this art has all but died among Iranians in the aftermath of the revolution. The well-intended but cringy attempts of people in the diaspora to carry on the mantle of our dances almost always fall short of the mark, especially in comparison to the Persianate dance performances you can find on youtube from Xinjiang, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, among other places which have adopted iterations of our previously supreme performance culture. Courtly Iranian dance gave birth to a family of dances with strikingly similar costumes (owing to their shared Persian origin) in these regions involving graceful twisting movements, flicking motions and snaps of the fingers, wrists, shoulders, torso and neck to music with traditional Persian instruments; not simply waving one's arms and torso about in a flowy costume in a hoolah-like manner to edgy modern pop songs. This group (Parvaz) typifies the elegance in movements and costume that is most authentic. The girl in the front (second from the left), stealing little mischievous glances, with gracefully pointed eyebrows, and every so often making sunny smiles and smirks at the audience. This was part of the historic allure of our performing arts; the stuff that inspired our celebrated poets. I beckon other Iranian dance groups to learn from the costume and choreography of this performance, as well as referencing dance videos from Khorezm (Uzbekistan), Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and Uyghur dances (China) to create skillful, tasteful Persianate dances with the authenticity that they deserve.

@dnranjit4 жыл бұрын
@Hoda Haddad We had some of the world's greatest universities in Nalanda and Taxila ..debating in philosophy (including the mordern numeric system), Vedic mathematics, astronomy, architecture,literature (Ramayana,Mahabharata (longer than Shahname)), Kalīlah wa Dimnah, (Arthashastra- the first book on statecraft,economic policy and military stratergy by Kautalya) and some wisdom (Bhagavad Gita (concept of dharma,bhakti,practice of yoga), introduction of grammar into Sanskrit,Spirituality and medicine (ayurveda) ,surgery (Satapatha Brahmana -surgery based vedic text) and finally not to miss -Kamasutra .Some of the foundations of Indian classic music and dance (Bharatanatyam,mohiniattam,Kathakali) all this before Sassanians came on the scene .We have a lot of respect for what Persian has given to India (you probably have no idea).We have a saying that Parsi is that nectar of the syncretic flower called India, which lets the birds and bees (her people) enjoy not only her true beauty but also makes her sweetest. So, be humble and respectful and you shall earn respect.
