You would think Nusrat has really 'ended' all of Gawon, Geet and Lehkaan here. The Maestro is truly at the height of his power here and would not be equaled by anyone anywhere but that is only up to the three-fourth part. The last part of the Qawali is a bit of a drag with out the usual 'built-up to crescendo' that is a hallmark of all his All Time Great works. But that would be noticed only by the most discerning. Spare a thought for the unfortunate who can't even understand the divine Kalam. Its almost scripture. My liberal friends, I'm sure, would hate the last part. Perhaps they can cut it out?

I forgot to tell you that the (very) jarring Tarra that runs constantly in the back ground like an alarm bell through out is actually not part of the original composition. It is a later addition due to a nauseating trend in Pakistani music called 'Jhankar' by third-rate local musical companies ostensibly with an intent to 'adorn' (read 'destroy') our music. Sorry I have been unable to find the original even for myself. For a long time, I just could not bring myself to run even the version that I had (same as this) because of this nuisance. Then, one day I ran it and decided that I could put up with it after all because I couldn't do with out hearing it of and on. For the original, we will all have to request Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to upload it on his official website (I'm sure he would have a tape of the original). Until then, we all have to make do with this.
