@ruk76573 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I've heard lots of live recordings of bands from the diy scenes and they just have their good and bad days. Being an relatively small, independent band is hard, so they have to perform constantly, which results in vocalists blowing their voices out all the time and instrumentalists getting burned out or just tired, making them play "worse"
@twally873 жыл бұрын
@@measured.kadence idk just sounds like the bands you're hearing have singers who can't hold a tune. How flat Ryland is here is def not the norm at all. Origami Angel is one of my favorite bands but there's no getting around it: Ryland struggles on vocals during live performance. Part of it might be that he has very complex guitar parts and isn't supported by a bassist-- so he's effectively playing three parts (rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass) on one instrument AND THEN trying to sing vocals with difficult melodies. I understand the bro aesthetic of two guys bangin out great tunes... but it's a monumental task and I think they'd benefit from some support from other musicians.

Googling how much rollercoasters cost So someday I can build a Gami Gang theme park In my backyard, get sponsored by Nascar It shouldn't be that hard of a thing to do So I will make it happen someday Googling how much medicine I'll need To stop feeling like everybody fucking hates me Shouldn't be that much so I'll go pick up Couldn't be that hard to do So I will make it happen someday It's a long way from here to where I wanna be But I know that there is nothing stopping me From being the person that you see on your TV And it's a long time from now until you'll get to see A version of me that isn't completely Destroyed by the war and peace that's playing in my head But just wait It's only two more seconds All these microscopic moments Help me feel like I'm not helpless I'm okay And I'm trying not to feel so bad for myself And I'm trying not to bring down anyone else

ryland unfortunately had bronchitis at the time this session was done, hence the strained vocals :/
@kevinadams67264 жыл бұрын
For real I have seen them live with like 30 other people and the vocals were perfect. They opened with the theme song from Drake and Josh lol
@twally873 жыл бұрын
@@teddyn3051 then why would they even have a recorded session? Having bronchitis is something where you cancel the session because you don't want to put out substantially sub-par content in today's cut-throat music scenes. Also... this isn't the only live performance where Ryland has struggled on vocals. I think they need to consider some supporting musicians. He's basically playing three nuanced instrumental parts (rhythm guitar, lead guitar & bass) while also trying to sing intricate vocal melodies on top of it all. It's just so much. Not even some of the greatest musicians of all time tried to shoulder all of that.
@QuintessentialQs3 жыл бұрын
One: EVERYONE uses pitch correction in mixing. Two: Most singers can hit more or less all their notes in a studio setting where you have lots of takes, stand in a relaxed position with correct posture the whole time, and have your own voice in your ear through a head set. But most will hit some sour notes when they are simultaneously playing complicated instrument parts in front of a mic that, if it is an inch or two out of ideal position, you kinda just have to leave it there for the duration of the song, and your voice may not be in its best shape on any given day, and you can't totally hear yourself over drums and guitar.
@twally873 жыл бұрын
@@QuintessentialQs that's not true. Not "everyone" uses pitch correction software. Especially not in emo, which is why I'm surprised you would say such a thing here. Some do-- and I can guarantee you Origami Angel does based on the many performances I've watched of theirs. Your second statement-- tautology and I'm not sure how this addresses the original comment? OP is just asking whether they use pitch correction and I think anyone can tell they do, regardless of the fact it indeed is difficult to play complicated guitar parts and sing at the same time.
