Usually I find your videos very clear, even when the technical aspect of construction is challenging - but the "bring the contrasting color to the front" part is virtually incomprehensible. Would be so so helpful to see it broken down into slower parts, or shown from multiple angles as you do in other videos with confusing steps! I do appreciate your videos on the whole very much.
@highfivehangten6 жыл бұрын
Showing it from behind would be incredibly helpful. I saw someone comment, do it from behind, so I had to visualise it with the tiny glimpse from the behind he gives. It is much easier from behind.

This was basically my thoughts while I was watching the video; "Oh, that looks easy. That's going to be so cool to have a origami cat bookmark!" Then I came to 3.40 or something, and was like; "Oh, okay... I'm lost. How did that happen!?" I have watched that part a couple times now, and I'm still lost... I've always loved this book mark since a friend gave it to me a few years back and I asked her to teach me how to make it. Then I found the video just to watch the source. Now I mostly read e-books because I move a lot so I can't really have such heavy and space-taking things like physical books, plus can't always find the books in the languages I want at bookstores. Easier when they are digital. But I still read physical books whenever I can. Love the smell of the pages and I remembered this bookmark so I decided to find this video again. What makes this bookmark especially cute is that when you close the book, the cat ears stick out lol

Thank you so much! I had been folding origami for 2 months and just left it. After a year later i needed a bookmark so i went to youtube. I got really frustrated because every video was so childish and dumb looking. Then suddenly i knew i was searching at wrong place so i searched "jo nakshima bookmark". I found exactly what i wanted. What i am trying to say is i think your videos are just on that fine balance. Not so easy. Not so hard. The origami that i can be proud of and beautiful. The origami which includes few tricky parts but not extremely hard. For those who are feeling helpless when those parts occur - He is folding it right in front of you. You can copy it. After 10 or 20 try you will figure it out. Once you got it you can fold every single origami in this channel. And be a little cocky like me because your friends will struggle to fold it(i am sure that none of them WILL fold it). I didn't find it hard. Of course tricky but not hard. He uses this same trick over and over agian but folds cool things. And again THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

First time I tried this I just got horribly confused. The second time I realised this is actually quite a simple origami, but the instructions could be clearer. Now I've done this whole thing and just found out that I either missed a step completely or I messed up. The cat head is stuck to the body tightly with no way to nicely unfold it. I've folded dinosaurs, birds, bugs, dogs, all kinds of flowers, and this flat cat just got the better of me...

3:36 I'm going to explain why this step is so difficult for everybody: 1° you turn the whole figure, while you are folding it at the same time 2°to top it off you do it fast being that it is the part that suddenly becomes more difficult, 3° besides it starts to look blurry and out of camera, no doubt, for an origami tutorial tentatively for beginners, (because otherwise I guess it wouldn't be on youtube unless it was to show off), it was super frustrating, but I didn't give up, I got really angry and wanted to destroy the universe because I wanted to make a cute kitty, but it was worth it. Maybe you are like Me in that it is way to simple for your lofty mind. Start with Bigger paper because miniature Origami is way harder. Make a big one then make a little smaller one until you got one the size of a grain of Mustard Seed. The First Origami I sculpted since I was a Little was The Hornet And Miniatures from Tin Foil. I set out to Draw When I snapped And became Origami Kamikaze^!!^ The kind of paper you use makes a huge difference and so does the size. Freezer Wax Paper works fabulous. You will have many problems if you are trying to fold Origami with cheap colored construction paper. The main thing is *this is supposed to be fun* , so take your time! If you get frustrated, take a break, grab a cup of coffee or something and relax a little minute because there is no need to be in a hurry. Do not use Tin Foil unless you have Patience And Endurance. Remember: Patience is a Virtue ミー!

Guyss... at 3:7 or 4:00 he basically does the same as he did on the left side.I managed to do good on that left side so what i did was to ignore his confusing hand gesture and i unfolded my paper on the left side (not all the way) just to see where the creases were and i just copied the fold on the right side like a mirror . So if on the left side that ''square' had a horizontal/diagonal crease i just folded on the same line on the right side and so on ! it may sound complicated but i suggest giving it a try ! just analyze the left side and figure out what you did there!! p.s. i'm definitely not a expert in origami so don't worry :))

No I couldn't do it either. I bought origami paper it's very thin. Tears easily. I've tried this about 7 times. I can't do it at 3:31 when it says wrap around from behind. It doesn't make sense. I can't follow him. He should make better videos. It's not you. I've made a lot of origami. I'm leaving this video and giving up it's too frustrated. Every time I get to 3:31 and wrap around from behind my paper tears when I try.

Yay. Thank you so much for these insteuctions. My first one was crumpled a bit and wrinkled, but the second time I did it, it was so much better.

This was my first origami since I was a kid so, there is no bigger noob than me. It was tricky but I still managed to finish this bookmark. I like the result although I did it on printer's paper :)

If you get stuck at 3:50 you can hold the part that is not ment to be hold and make an inner crese if you get that

I just watched your video yesterday day, i want to make a bookmark for my child. I preferred your work because it's challenging but due to covid 19 and lockdown, i dont have that kind of paper that your using so i used construction paper instead. Still I'm happy because i made 5 bookmark 😆

Just wanted to let you know paperart013 made a video using this design claiming it as his new design for an owl bookmark (he drew big eyes so it more resembled an owl)

I recommend if you speak in your videos it would make the tutorials easier? Just kinda explain where the creases should be made, what edges to bring where, which layer of the paper is being used, etc. I've watched a couple of videos but I'm just never quite able to understand them as well as I do with another origami youtuber that I watch. Just a suggestion!

Finally completed it! Some parts could have been filmed clearer. some crucial moments were out of camera shot! But its really cool, thank you sir! :)

It is true that the step at 3:36 is rather difficult. But I would say it’s doable if your intermediate. You just need to play that part over, several times, in 0.25x speed. Analyse it, till you understand. Good luck to you if you are still struggling!

Top tips for this model: - Put the speed of the video to 0.75 or 0.5, you will be able to see what he does - Rewind at the hard parts - Concertrate
