Fantastic model and great tutorial! I am making my way through folding all the models you’ve demonstrated! So satisfying! Thank you!

What a wonderful model and video tutorial! I really must try and fold this one. It's an interesting modular as it's base is the 30 faced Rhombic Tricontahedron. Is the model sturdy and does it hold together well once fully assembled... for example can you drop it from waist height without it sustaining damage?

+Edward Holmes Hi Edward, thank you for your nice words. Regarding your question how sturdy the model is. The ball holds together (some other kusudama designs even shift if you hold them gently in your hands). But it might almost 90% come apart if you drop it from waist height. It happened to me by the way - it rolled off my desk, and I had to partly reassemble it.

I can't get the pieces to stay together. I'm trying to use sticky tape temporary to stick the pieces together.

+thunderbirdice I know some models are more tricky than others. You need very calm hands. I always help myself with the support of the table, and move it as little as possible. Sticky tape or masking tape can help as well. If all fails, I sometimes use glue. This model is possible to assemble without glue, but don't feel bad if you do need it. I usually write in the video or the description on my website if a certain model would need glue. Also remember, the bigger the units (from bigger size paper), the easier it is to assemble without problems. I hope this helps a bit. :-)

+Origami Tutorials I finally finished. I used sticky tape to get the model to stay while assembling. When it's finished, I pull out all the tapes and the model stayed together.

A couple things, the second pinch fold you made is pointless I found while folding the model. And mine didn’t turn out 100% like yours. So either I missed something, I think it all was with the pinch folds though

Ian Smith I think you might be intersecting at the first pinch instead of at the second as you are supposed to do. I don’t see how else you could know where to make the intersection unless you made a pinch at the 1/8th mark.

my little end flaps dont look like the ones in the video and the dont hold as well any tips
@OrigamiTutorials9 жыл бұрын
+Patrick Johnson I have two ideas: Maybe you don't crease the folds strong enough? I go over all my folds with something like a bonefolder. I actually use a blunt knife - but you can use also your fingernails if you don't have anything else at hand. ;-) Or maybe the paper you are folding your model is a little bit too thick. This model needs thin Origami paper like Kami or duo colored paper. Other than that, I can't think of anything else.

The assembly on this is near impossible fyi
@OrigamiTutorials4 жыл бұрын
I know this is a tricky one. Did you try to use miniature pins to help you stabilize the model during assembly?
