The tabla is a very ancient instrument. Although it is Amir Khusrau who gave it it's current name, there are carvings on ancient Hindu temples and Buddhist stupa depicting percussionists playing the tabla. Bickram Ghosh seems to be a bit off the mark here...

So can Master Bickram Ghosh perhaps show us that instrument that broke into two parts? because it is really different story than what i have heard on the origin of drums.ghatam is the father of all indian drums but was not loud enough to convey messages on the battlefield hence the invention of louder and louder drums

The origin of the word Tabl is Arabic which mean drum. Tabla is derivation of that word which means drum.
