The GMAT exam has changed a lot recently, especially with the new GMAT Focus Edition that started in November 2023. Let's compare the old GMAT with the new one:
Old GMAT (ends on January 31, 2024):
Had four sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA).
Took a total of 3 hours and 7 minutes.
Scoring was done solely based on Quantitative and Verbal sections, with scores ranging from 0 to 60. The overall score ranged from 200 to 800, and Integrated Reasoning and AWA sections were scored separately.
Included a variety of question types, like geometry, critical reasoning, and sentence correction.
New GMAT Focus Edition:
It has three sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights.
Takes a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes.
All three sections contribute to a total score ranging from 205 to 805.
Focuses on skills considered more important for success in business school, like data interpretation and analysis. There are no geometry, critical reasoning, or sentence correction questions. Earlier Integrated reasoning now has become Data Insights section.
