The original Lexus GX debuted in 2002 (as the 2003 model year) as the Lexus GX470. Based on the J120 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, the Lexus GX470 used the 4Runner suspension and a 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 engine. The GX470 was the third Lexus SUV after the LX 50 and RX300.
