Bravo Ashley, you were so smart to try the paint stripper to save the door, which came out beautifully. The simple fact that both of you have such respect for the original home is heartwarming. Too often we toss and replace. As always be well, be blessed ❤

It’s the imperfections that give character to the final product when u keep original wood. It the introduction of old into new and where the story of the home continues. I love the choices u guys have made in keeping much of the original home. It’s gonna give life and story’s to the kids later on. Continuity is a beautiful thing.

I really do like the wall finish in your living room. It's so cozy and warm feeling/looking. Great save on the bathroom door. I'm glad Ashley suggested the orange stripper instead of cutting out the panels and replacing with new plywood. I must say that I do wish, Doug, that you had continued sanding and refinishing the original door stop pieces. I'm sure the new more decorative trim will serve it's purpose; but for continuity of using the original door trim in the rest of the house, my vote would have been for original pieces. Looking forward to seeing the door in place in your next video. Y'all are getting so close to completing the interior renovation of your dream home, so I was just really hoping that you could have the patience and energy to work with any original wood you have. Says me, the 72 y.o. who's not the one doing the work! Y'all have a great day and enjoy some family time. Take care, Patricia (Fort Payne)

It so exciting to get down to the finish line on all these house projects! Try not to get too stressed out by trying to please all of the viewers. You've been going non-stop for over 2yrs here, plus all the work you've done in the past. People need to simmer down and appreciate the amount of effort of doing the projects, filming plus editing the videos. That was a lot of work and I hope you can enjoy the fruits of you labours.

I adore old doors! I detest the new junky doors that are molded foam wrapped in plastic. Those remind me of sandwiches wrapped in plastic wrap - IMHO no door is better than a solid wood door. When searching for a home to purchase I find myself inspecting doors. The scars on solid wood doors tell a story of survival and longevity. Ashley and Doug insure their doors are appropriate for their home. Of course they are also gorgeous!

Good job on that door. Back in the day, my mom would have used caustic soda on it. Not very environmentally friendly. She would have loved you guys. Her last project house (always our house, just as you are doing) was a 16th century 5000 sq ft house (in the county historic records it is listed as one of the most culturally significant buildings in the county) which had not been used since WW2. Sadly, on the way to pick up supplies, she died in an auto accident (the other driver was found at fault, but also died, as did his passenger). I was still quite young, so I always miss her. We live in the UK, BTW.

The door looks so much better than when you started. If the imperfections still bother you in the future, you can always try to find another old door that is in better shape than this one was before you started. Who knows, you might find one laying beside the road sometime. A little more than a week to go, until the days start getting longer again. Yippie!!! Hang in there!!!!

For as long as i have followed your channel i had the impression that Ashley's role was to say "yeah" to everything Doug said and to do support work in the background. It seemed that she never really got to make decisions. I realize that could be a totally wrong impression, but its what came across on camera. But not today! I absolutely loved that she spoke up about her ideas on a solution and stuck to her guns on trying stripper first. Excellent outcome and hope Ashley continues to show her confidence on camera too!

If someone came in my home and wanted to point out where I had fixed a hole (which I can’t even see on TV) I suggest you invite them to remove themselves from your premises.
