I know of British singers who make their accents sound like American English just to appease the international audiences that are outside the UK. It's slow progress, but good progress nonetheless.

It's not really a forced thing. Most people, especially without classical training, learn to sing by singing with others. Or, in a modern sense, singing to recordings. Most popular music adopts a sort of "international English" sort of sound just due to ease of singing. Things like vowels being stretched out, the de-emphasis of sounds requiring the tongue to block the mouth (d's and t's) etc. are just adopted because it's easier to sing. Over time these things just end up becoming an accepted standard. Go back to the early days of popular music and regional accents were way stronger. British Invasion bands of the 60s like The Beatles, The Kinks and The Animals all had noticeable twangs in their vocals. It just makes the music more intelligable overall too. Much more likely for someone in say, the Phillipines, to understand the lyrics if they adopt an international English sound. Nobody's recognising my Yorkshire drawl! Also, genre expectations. UK drill would sound, and does sound, bizarre without the modern London youth accent. The same way death metal stands out if it doesn't use traditional growls. People get accustomed to certain genre tropes, subverting those tropes is high risk. Anyway, other Brits that use their accent off the top of my head: Damon Albarn, UK drill scene, Rodger Waters, John Lennon, first wave punk, Shaun Ryder, Morrisey, Ozzy Osbourne, The Proclaimers (yeah the 500 Miles guys), David Bowie.

Rin, you don't know how helpful this song, as well as your new year's song was. I was brain damaged during this time, and your songs helped to provide a rhythm for my mind to latch onto, and it kept me going. Seeing you so dressed up and cute/vulnerable as well as powerful, and (somehow, during That time) hopeful. And it affected me greatly and was one of my guiding focus and message for me to follow. You have no idea how much this helped. You have no idea how much your songs helped. More than AmaLee's. I don't really remember any of her songs, but I remember all of yours.
