Great ad from the time. Voiced superbly by an aussie icon the late John Mellion.

This is the old Australia. The real fair dinkum Australia, now gone and ruined. 😔
@joedipietro255911 ай бұрын
@peecee1384 so true mate. We don't have an Australian automotive industry anymore. It's almost impossible to buy Australian made clothing as our shit government thought it was better to import others from Bangladesh and China. And only recently on 4 march 2024 I heard some supermarkets are importing fruit and vegetables such as pineapple and beetroot. The old Australia is ruined even though all the new immigrants coming to Australia have absolutely no respect for Australian history. It makes me sick and makes me feel like vomiting. Spot the white person in Australia now. There is more Indians and Muslims and Islam'ics and Chinese than white European caucasian Australians. Makes me want to spew.🤮🤮😭😭

Great classic Aussie Ad. Voiced by a great Australian actor with a genuine Aussie accent.
@JohnAikman-z4r Жыл бұрын
The first Vic Bitter ad featuring the voice of the legendary John Meillon was actually released in 1968. I grew up watching them in black and white as a kid. And I still drink VB, along with some other brands. And he made a few slightly different one's in the same style right up until his death in 1989. 24 years later they still use the same music and style with a new voice while also running some of the old Meillon ads too. The ad was based on a 1965 advertisement for a Queensland beer called Bulimba Gold Top that Meillon had made. And Carlton United Brewery were starting a new ad campaign for VB so contacted John Meillon to basically reprise his role and virtually copied the original. He was perfect for it and you can almost feel the thirst for a beer in his voice and imagine that's the first thing he did when the ad finished. He was famous for his love of a beer. Too much so in fact and actually died of cirrhosis at only 55. But the rest is history as it became the most iconic, successful, and longest running beer campaign in Australia.

Yes, I remember them when I was a little kid. My Dad was always a VB drinker and he gave me a sip when I sat on his knee in the early 70's. I can still hear my Mum saying Harry dont do that, hes too young! LMAO, I loved a beer until I found out I was Coeliac about 12 years ago.

It's normally hot, so by the time you get down to the dregs it's warm (Aussie beer is served cold) and tastes terrible. Aussie beer culture was not so much about enjoying the beer, often just drinking as much as possible, and beer like VB is so awful it has to be cold in order to stomach it.
