Original War Playthrough - Russian Mission 3

So here is the appropriate hard mode difficulty bump, getting through this level with no losses is a pain, thankfully it isn't one of the medal requirements.
Lots of shortcuts you can exploit on this level starting with building the depot to the Oil rig on the low ground cutting travel time in half and making said resource convoy safer.
Having access to the American depot from the previous level doubles your starting funds and gives you enough oil to build a tank after transferring the resources, this makes rescuing Professor Scholtze easier, otherwise you will need around half of your troops to safely fight your way to him.
The Americans launch some rather nasty raids against you, the first wave includes a Gatling gun, they can be held off with enough troops in an armoury, but having your troops in there at all times isn't something you have time for so switch to tanks fast.
Stealing vehicles comes in helpful but isn't necessary as you can build enough to get the medal if you work efficiently.
The biggest problem comes with the attack at the end of the level so many things can go wrong including the allied AI blocking your own units, so play carefully.

I did think of this but only after I had finished the level. It would make defending easier, although shipments will still arrive at Beria so I would be transporting crates instead.

To save time and effort transfering oil i think you can link the factory to Kaganovitch and rebuild the lab there at the start.

How many vehicles do you need to produce in order for the colonel to be satisfied? I've had like ten, but he still got angry and I lost the mission. Does it have something to do with me not following the objectives precisely and producing the vehicles in a new factory closer to the oil rig, instead of the original one?

My guess is that you have to at least upgrade the original factory.For vehicle numbers you need one for every person in your base and two more for the surplus objective, It doesn't seem to matter where they come from just that they belong to you (you can see one of the colonels troops using an American vehicle during the attack at 19:15).It has been a long time since I recorded this so I am not 100% sure.Edit: Welp KZbin wont let me make line breaks now

Thanks, already figured it out (replayed the previous mission and built the factory in a more convenient location, then used it in this mission, everything worked out).

@@TrueTactics Yeah it glitches a bit, I had 10 vehicles (7 people + 2 extra for colonel + 1 extra extra) and at the end of the day I was missing one medal. You have pretty much exactly the same approach as me just I'm a bit better doing this level by putting armory (? not sure about english version) really close to the first bunkers, so the guy from the east attack it as well. Then I have one armory south-west of the map for taking care of these guys. I keep 1 soldiers each armory and transfer units when there's a fight going on, that was my tactic since I was like 12 y/o so I just realized the soldiers come after you if you don't do anything - quite funny, makes things a lot easier tbh
