The Original was probably designed when there weren't as many sunglasses materials as there are today and the new ones use a lighter material, because as he stated in the video, the Originals get heavy on your face if you wear them for a while.

Ordered and tried both. The new one is lighter and feels cheaper. The hinge also creaks and when you open it all the way to wear them it feels like they might break. It’s made of injected nylon and not like the handmade acetate of the originals. I’d get either the original or the wayfarer ease, which is the same without the tilt.

The OG Wayfarer actually sits on your cheek so when you smile, it lifts the glasses up as opposed to the New Wayfarer. New Wayfarer seems flimsy. Also, if you notice, it does not have a metal rod on the arms like the originals.

the original actualy looks more premium. its blacker, and it has a nice shine to it. the new one looks like a pair of sunglasses based on the wayfarer you can find at any local store. i prefer the classic. its a timeless design. and it always will be.

Original's all the way! I was on the fence for a bit because of some of the complaints (i.e. the tilt or the wrong fit for some people), but if they fit your face properly they are truly awesome sunglasses. If the New Wayfarer's fit your face best that's what I'd go with, but I can fit both well and I'll take the Original's every time. Love them.

I know this is years old and probably pointless to ask, but I am looking to get some in Tortoise and like how the classics look better, but I was told people with high cheekbones find them a bit more uncomfortable because when they smile, their cheeks always bump the frames and they have to adjust them. I'm about 6'1'' 220lbs and everyone in my family has slightly chubby cheeks. Is it really that much of an issue that I shouldn't get the ones that look better because of it?

Can you please tell me if the arms or legs of the sunglasses are intentionally not symmetrical? One of them is more tilted than the other so when I wore them I can feel how they don’t fit perfectly. Also when I place them on a table you can see it because one of the arms or legs (whatever are called) wont touch the surface.

Hi. It should be symmetrical and balance when you place it on a surface. I have one that I bought 8 years ago and the temples (legs or arms as you call it) are hard and sturdy. But the temples of my new pair (2140P) which I bought just recently are so soft and easy to bend. That being said, I keep on adjusting by bending gently the temples so it comes back to being symmetric and balanced. I noticed that it changes form from storing it in its case. The case pushes both temples in and outwards causing the issue. Now that I bought a bigger case (same style but from other brand) I don't have that issue again. Hope this helps. Oops, I just realized your comment was 2 years ago. Hope you were able to solve the problem already before reading this.

Matte Black New Wayfarer large (58/18) polarized doesn’t exist apparently :( The Gloss Black does but I like the matte Black frame because it feels way more durable.

You could do a video with the classic wayfarer RB2140 and the new RB4340, which is the same design of the original 2140, but without the tilt. The new ones (4340) seem as if they fit tighter/more snug, even on the same size.
