Great in-depth video. Especially appreciated the trip down the bore. Even if the Winchester doesn't have many "special order" features, I hope you appreciate what a fantastic piece you have there! Perfect soundtrack choice as well.

Excellent presentation of two fine rifles,I would much rather have an original Winchester but I'm glad the Italians have stepped up to the plate and are making them available again at a fraction of the cost of the real thing,I have several Italian clones of Colts and Winchesters and have been very pleased with all of them.

Any experience with Miroku? I know they have the Winchester label , at one point Browning. Its hard to keep up with it. These rifles are beautiful.

After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel kzbin.infoUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!

I have two 1886 Winchesters, one a reproduction by Browning, and the second, a Winchester recent production. Both have 26in octagon barrels in .45-70 caliber and are made by Miroku. of Japan. I love the heavy weight of the rifles which serve to dampen felt recoil from stout loads.
@exothermal.sprocket2 жыл бұрын
Also Miroku made 1886 in .45-90. You can fire jacketed .45-70 in a .45-90 no prob. Also .45-90 runs 200 fps+ higher with the same bullet weights.

@@exothermal.sprocket, I also have the Miroku ‘86 in 45-90, a take down version. The magazine didn’t quite hold 8 rounds until I snipped a couple of coils off the magazine spring.

Great videos, capandball! If you ever get the chance I cannot recommend highly enough that you get your hands on one of the Browning 1886 reproductions from the late 1980's. Truly great and well engineered rifles! Keep up the great work!

I have an original 50-110 carbine and a premium Pedersoli 1886/71. The Pedersoli is much more similar to a model 71 than to a 1886. It even has the cuts on the bolt for the legendary Lyman 98A , and Pedersoli was wise enough to make a reproduction. I find the Pedersoli much better than the modern 1886 with that awful tang safety.

***** Might also have to do with magazine laws/restrictions in some countries and even some states in the US. Just an idea, not totally sure... Id also agree with the cost saving measure, they are a business after all ;)

If you have a model 1886 with a 26'' octagonal barrel its going to be very heavy and if you have a full length mag tube full of 45-70 rounds its going to be very very heavy.For looks I prefer the oct.barrel with full length mag tube but for a gun used for hunting the Pedersoli is much more sensible.

do you guys know meaning of 1886/71 ? what i get is model 1886 and improvisation in 1971
@millardhixson72177 жыл бұрын
Not quite. The Winchester Model 71 was based on the original 1886 Lightweight Deluxe rifle with a more modern look. It was introduced in the 1930s to add a bit of polish to Winchester lineup, and is arguably the pinnacle of large-frame Winchester lever action rifles. The Pedersoli 1886/71 is their rendition of the Model 71.

@YTRulesFromNM8 жыл бұрын
It is. But in the Model '86's defense, I think it was the strongest lever action repeater until 1895 when the stronger Savage 1895 and Winchester 1895 came out.
@DOGFACESOLDIER07087 жыл бұрын
YTRulesFromNM I agree with you brother that the 86 is stronger
@DOGFACESOLDIER07087 жыл бұрын
The Stranger what I found out is to blr and the 86 operate around the same PSI 50 to 52000. Both are brother companies that are made in Japan. I have the Winchester 1886 and every time I call I can always here Browning products through the messaging while I'm waiting for a Winchester representative if I'm not mistaken I think that you got one representative for both LOL both are good companies I wouldn't doubt that they share ideas as well.
@pseudopetrus6 жыл бұрын
The BLR is a fantastic rifle, but handles totally different to many old style heavy barreled rifles. I don't really worry about action strength in a modern made rifle (even though it is important) because the manufactures design them appropriately for their caliber. This might be a concern if you have some crazy hot hand loads in mind.

Perhaps I am an odd ball, originally, I preferred a pistol grip on my lever rifles. I think that was because I was more familiar with a pistol grip. But after purchasing a straight stock lever gun, and having the chance to get familiar with the straight stock, I actually prefer it. I prefer the standard loop as well. Thanks for the great video.

I work alot on these old guns (1886 1887 1890 1893) and i can tell u for sure i love to see a comparisin with a repro 1886 vs a original 1886 with each time the loadi is cranked up a bit and i wonder what breaks first.... Take a case and load it with fast burning powder and each time crank up the load with 1 or 2 grain and keep using the same bullet,there will be a time something will break... I am 100% sure a chinese 1887 clone breaks sooner then a original thats in good condition.......And i am pretty sure the steel used in original 1886s was the best of its time and it will handle a normal smokeless load without a problem,just a as a original 1893 is a stronger gun then a chinese copie of a 1897...............And for all the people who start bla bla i work on these guns i am not a person who reads bla bla on the internet and spreads its like its real,i compared these guns with modern guns and i can tell u John Browning guns are made 3x overkil for the purpose they serve. The 1893/97 is the strongest shotgun action for a repeater i know,there is and no lever gun as strong as a 86 (based on the receiver/locking block thickness vs its task) maybe that later lever gun with the turning bolt that works like a winchester 1200/1300 is stronger,but the receiver of a original 1886 can handle any modern 45-70 smokeless load.

So in other words, there isn't much the same. It's not much of a repro. The barrel with it's covered sight, and taper, along with the shorter mag, and polish make it look like a European gun. It may be a nice rifle. But it's a poor copy.
