I honestly love this console for the simple fact that you could import songs from a CD and listen to them while playing a game that allowed for custom soundtrack users.

Then the Xbox 360 allowed you to listen to your songs at anytime which was amazing. Then the Xbox One came along and completely removed the feature -_-

I still own the Crystal edition from day one, still working perfectly, it was built like a tank. My edition (EU/ITALY) also came with 2 crystal controllers! Possibly my still my favorite console

Really enjoyed shooting this video, brought back a lot of happy memories and turned me into a right nerd. The original Xbox meant a lot to me and I still remember being blown away by Project Gotham Racing in the big Tesco in Aberdeen, then lugging huge CRT tellies around to our uni halls to play Halo on 4 player system link. I owned a black one till I heard of the crystal clear edition that was available only in the UK. I ordered one, and swapped my us insides to the UK clear case. Updated the rear fan to a clear 80 mm, and added a green cathode halo under the Xbox gem. I sold it with all the cables and 2 crystal controllers to pay bills years ago. I regretted it, but I did come another just 3 years ago and I do have that one untouched for right now. I am going to MOD it.

This console was a beast for modifying. A simple inexpensive chip plugged into circuit board and it could emulate almost any console before it. Also multimedia functions after modification were almost as good as a pc. Amazing bit of kit for the time.

I found a excellent condition original clear xbox and bought it. As soon as it arrived it was perfect. Sadly no box but the condition it was in was hard to find. Most yellowing. Scratched. Very happy

Fascinating I love all of this gaming history stuff! Mentioning the original Halo there reminded me of some of the interviews/talks that came out around the Halo 5 launch. It was really interesting to hear Xbox/343/Bungie people talking about the journey the game took through it's early days through to the present.

Here is my memory with the Xbox. One day I was really sick and the doctor told me I had to stay at home from school for atleast a week. My grandmother rented a Xbox console with Halo for me. At the end of that week I had finished the game.. It was a real experience! I love the original Xbox. The newer console's not so much I prefer Playstation over Xbox.

I remember playing on my cousins modded xbox console with xbmc installed and it had that awesome mini screen plugged into in on the right side of the controller ports. Good times. I ended up getting my own xbox and install the original halo green xbox shell from a broken european modeled xbox.

Brandon x22 There are still services like XLink Kai that allow you to play online too. Granted the populations are small, but it's doable and you could use Reddit to get people to join in or host games, etc.

My family has the black xbox orginal from 2002 and it still goes fine we still use it for dvds we had a 360 until it died last year and now we've got a xbone and out of all of them the original is still the most reliable because the xbone crashes to often.

Too bad they didn't keep the Black and White buttons and add the bumpers. 2 extra buttons would be nice! I have a _Steam Controller_ which has 2 extra buttons. (haven't used it with American Truck Simulator yet.)

I have a wireless Xbox controller. it's like a clear (not crystal) controller with a switch on the back, and you had to link it with a box you plug in to a Xbox controller port. it had a switch on the controller and box labelled "1 2 3 4" and you select the same two numbers make the controller wireless. it drained batteries crazy fast tho

I still play my original xbox at least monthly whether it's halo or driv3r. my uncle gave it to me a few summers ago. even though I now have a xbox one and halo master cheif collection, it's still a great system to play.

I'm 16 so in 2003 or 2004 i got the orignal Xbox on Christmas Day with a couple of star wars games. in 2005 on my birthday (August 12th) i invited a few friends from school and we played the original xbox and star wars battlefront. We played outside as well. That same year me and my family took a trip to Texas to go see relatives and we put the original xbox in the back and some mini T,Vs on the seats and played Fusion Frenzy, TMNT Mutant Nightmare 3 and Phantom Crash. We watched Star wars movies on the Xbox using the DVD dongle thing. I had a massive collection of original xbox games that i had to sell to get the Xbox 360. lol. so recently i bought an Original Xbox at a store called Gameco which sells Retro games to the Xbox one and PS4. so i got an Original xbox for a fair price and a few games. i am starting my collection again. The ONE thing i want for the system is for it to be Backwards compatible with the xbox one and for online to be brought back. i know my ideas seems impossible but i can dream can't i? lol.

The memory card slots on the controller were there so that you could take your saved games to your friend's house (plus a controller) without carrying the entire console and do coop. I thought an Xbox channel would know that.

Getting this and playing nfsu2 and b3 all day after school was amazing. The last game I ever played in this was nfsu when it finally died. I was also so far into mc3 too, I had a cool asf lexus too. I need to get one. My TV has two HDMI ports and an Av port so there are no worries about my Xbox one and 360. Why didn't Microsoft back compat mc3 to 360? Forza was good too. Sweet sweet memories.

The xbox is upside-down in the box.. That hole in the back is so Microsoft and retailers could scan the serial number without opening the box up.... The bags the consoles where in are also taped closed at the factory :P
