Basically, Mobian BF and Mobian GF are only avatars for the actual BF and GF, and when GF and BF were taken into two different dimensions, they changed back to their actual look because those avatars were only their avatars in the dimension Act 1 took place in... I feel like this is how an FNF scenario with *canon* Xenophanes would go. I actually have some ideas for a narrative that could be told with it. Act one would be some sort of facade to fool BF and GF into thinking he's something he isn't, as if he's just in it for the fun. When the two least expect it, Xenophanes attacks, taking BF's source of protection without warning, GF. Act two, I have no ideas unfortunately. I would've thought of Alice (Xen's accomplice), but she's unwilling to help Xen, and she's just a human so that won't cut it. Tails, Knuckles, and Robotnik would obviously be their souls pleading for help though. Act three would be where Xenophanes would start to reveal his true nature. Showing off the soulless body of GF while her soul cries out for BF. Xen's voice kicking in midway through would probably be him taunting BF with his weakness and his inability to save her. The fourth and final act would be Xenophanes revealing his godly nature, warping BF's perception and further mocking him with the memories he had with GF, just so that he could get an angry, strong reaction out of BF for Xen's amusement. And while BF is focusing solely (pun intended) on his hatred towards Xen, once the time was right and his guard was down, Xenophanes goes in for the "kill", taking BF's soul right out of his body so Xenophanes to take BF and GF back to his home to toy with. Just a fun little concept I had in mind, so there you go.
