An interesting point here about the first Welsh fifteen chosen to play England. I think it was at Blackheath. Wales only had 13 players and needed two, so asked if anyone in the crowd had played and could turn out. Two lads did so. The captain on that day was not chosen for the next Welsh game, but one of the two lads who turned out on spec was chosen to play for Wales in the following international!

That infamous non- awarded try by Bob Deans in 1905 does not mean the ABs would have won that game. It could have been a 3-3 all draw if the conversion had missed. The ABs have won games controversially. The most recent being against the Wallabies last year when the ref awarded a scrum to them because the Aussie flyhalf was taking too long to kick the ball out and then scored the winning try.

From all the reports the All Blacks were given an absolute whipping in this game and were the laughing stock of world rugby for some years afterwards. NZ were absolutely caned in this game. They were forced to resort to cheating in the years afterwards .... like in 1978.

The referee cheated it was a try by Deans. NZ had trodden everyone else prior to Wales. Everyone in Briton knew that Wales were the last line of British pride, that the try was disallowed and because Wallace wouldve landed the kick giving NZ the win. the referee was definitely paid, it appears he wore his new bought suit to the game.
