What a wonderful club. The real pride of Baltimore, is Orioles baseball, and the families who play ball together and all ppl at Memorial Stadium were friends for 3 hours or so. Did not matter who they were. At the ballpark, everyone near you is a chum

I am so grateful for Orioles Baseball and affordable games at Memorial Stadium. I was born in Washington, DC in 1965 and so it was that just as I was becoming a baseball fan, the Senators left my hometown. My dad and I made many trips to 33rd Street over the following years, catching as many doubleheaders as we could to make the trip more worthwhile. It wasn’t until I was raising kids of my own that I fully realized what a treasure the O’s were in my own childhood. After Catfish Hunter, it was hard to watch what happened to MLB, but our Orioles were the classy club with the farm system to do more than just put on a brave face; they continued to field inspiring t-e-a-m-s, not just collections of individuals. Of the “24 All-Time Best Orioles,” nearly half (11) played during those Glory Days when we made all those memorable father-son Bird Watching trips. Thanks for this video that rekindled so many heart-warming memories.

Its honestly kind of depressing that the only World Series games that have been played in Baltimore were played in Memorial Stadium. For as great as Camden Yards is, it has rarely seen any big postseason games. In 2023, that I believe is about to change.

The orioles are good again and thus team feels better than the buck years because our minor league system is stacked and will keep funneling in talent. 2023 orioles the magic is back baby

I was 30 in 91 and was a 29 game season ticket holder from 87 through 91. I grew up there, my first game I remember was Game 1 of the 69 series. I was also at game 1 of the 71 and game 1 of the 79 series. All three games the Orioles won and they lost all three series. So blame me. 😁. To this day I one of the few people who take Memorial Stadium warts and all over Camden Yards.

The Orioles best team ever was the 1970 team because they had Jim Palmer for a full season,Merv Rettenmund became a star hitting .322 with 18 homeruns plus another in the world series and the team knew that they could not overlook the Twins in the ALCS or the Reds in the world series...Their team from 1977 through 1983 was one of the best in baseball history as they had by far the best record in all of major league baseball despite losing many key all star players such as Reggie Jackson,Bobby Grich,Wayne Garland,Ross Grimsley,Dick Drago,Elliott Maddox and Don Stanhouse to free agency but replaced them with a great farm system and shrewd trades made by their general managers Frank Cashen and Hank Peters....

Enjoyed seeing the very brief clip of the “Mr. Oriole” mascot in the 1954 parade-my father, who was the Orioles first PR director, was responsible for the creation of Mr. Oriole, who preceded Mr. Met as the first MLB on-field mascot by 10 years.

Oddities about the 1966 World Series-the Orioles never used their bench during the series. Steve Barber was unable to pitch due to sprained wrist he suffered late in the season. The bullpen was tapped only in game one. In games three and four played in Memorial Stadium, the Birds won both games by 1-0 scores on homers by Paul Blair and Frank Robinson. The Orioles became the first AL team to win a four game sweep of the World Series since the 1950 New York Yankees. One more fact: Jim Palmer, Wally Bunker and Dave McNally had complete game wins.

A slaughter by the narrowest of margins. The next WS 4-Game sweep wasn't until 1976 I think? Reds-Yankees.

I was at the doubleheader in 1966, against the Cleveland Indians, when Frank Robinson hit it completely out of MS. I was a junior oriole at the time. I was late to the game because of the BTC, and I missed Frank's majestic shot.

A weird Orioles fact they had the leagues best winning percentage in both 1973 and 1974 but did not go to the world series either season because they lost in the ALCS to the Oakland A's both of those years...The Orioles would have had a rematch in 1973 with the New York Mets of the 1969 world series as well as a rematch with the Los Angeles Dodgers from the 1966 world series but would have had to play both series without their best hitter their DH Tommy Davis who was their only big run producer during those seasons as his knees were completely shot and he could not play defense which would have been a huge disadvantage for the Orioles as the DH wasnt used in the world series those years..

Had the Reds won in 1973, the Orioles would had possibly have a rematch of the 1970 World Series. Instead, neither team went.

As a lifelong Orioles fan since 1969 I disagee with you the 1969 New York Mets had a hall of fame group of starting pitchers in Tom Seaver,Gary Gentry and Jerry Koosman and a hall of fame group of relief pitchers in Nolan Ryan,Tug McGraw and Ray Sadecki and were no fluke as they won 100 games during the regular season, swept the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS that year and beat the great 1969 Orioles 4 out of 5 in the 1969 world series..The 1973 New York Mets WERE A FLUKE as they only won 82 games that year but upset the Reds in the NLCS and almost upset the Oakland A;s losing in seven hard fought games after Yogi Berra screwed up his pitching rotation by pitching Tom Seaver on two days rest in game 6 and Jon Matlack with 2 days rest in game 7...
