This whole offense needs to go to Cancun or something over the all star break, it’s not like they’ll be participating in anything anyways. They just need to reset mentally. Julio needs to fix his mechanics too.

Another embarrassing, pathetic display by the Mariners offense highlighted by a home run from an inconsistent Raleigh. How hard is it to sit on top of a mediocre AL West and keep a division lead? Apparently if you're the M's, it is if you have Houston in your division. Will Scott and Jerry do something and stop being obsessed with this annual mediocrity? This team may not even make the playoffs for crying out loud!

Dude everyone is talking about seattles offense, I’m not seeing what they’re seeing. Here’s what I am seeing; sometimes they get a mistake and they square it up right at someone which is just unlucky, and sometimes they JUST miss hitting it all the way out of the ball park, but I feel like there’s been a bunch of balls hit right to the wall or warning track this series, which is more so the fault of your massive stadium than it is your hitters. I used to live in Seattle and I’m from the East Coast, what were you thinking building such a big park in that region? The ball doesn’t fly in that Pacific Northwest air at all especially where the stadium is; right next to the water. It’s crazy bc San Francisco did the same thing and they don’t hit homers either. It was one thing when you were a basehit you to death ball club, but your DiPoto has built a home run hitting club in a pitchers ball park. We average 2-4 homers per night, we’ve hit one so far in two games. We only had ONE game in June where we didn’t hit a home run. The other thing I see is guys swinging at bad pitches with two strikes because they’re clearly desperate to make something happen and they’re not recognizing spin because of it. J-Rod looks like he’s about to smash his bat after every at bat. You guys need to get off their backs because the pressure you’re applying while Houston surges is killing your offense. Don’t you see the difference between our lineups? How relaxed we are compared to you? How we take our at bats with the mentality of the next man up, pass the baton, because we trust people to get the job done. No one in your lineup trusts the next man up. Raleigh is red hot, he’s a nightmare every time he comes up and then we get him on the high fastball because he’s over eager. If he was willing to take his walk and pass the baton you’d be in way more innings than you’re in right now. By the time he finally got a mistake he could handle in a good hitters count, there was no one on base and we had a four run lead. Thus making that homer very forgettable. Which should have been his second of the game if he wasn’t hitting in Seattle, because that first one to the wall woulda got out in most places. I’ve seen multiple Seattle hitters make contact and react like they just went deep at the plate as we catch the ball at the wall. That’s not the hitters, that’s your stadium. You need to bring those walls in big time. That outfield looks massive from the view in the stands and on TV, I know bc I’ve seen both. Accommodate your lineup with your stadium. We hit home runs in Baltimore, but the ball carries so well there, they moved the fences back and we are still tops in the majors for long balls. We didn’t take any runs off the board for ourselves, but you’re keeping your offense off the board everyday. Your problem isn’t with the players or coaching staff. It’s with ownership and the fans. Get off their backs, bring the walls in, and watch this lineup become a serious wrecking force. Why do you think most of your pitchers have crazy splits between home versus away? With the home splits being dominant. It ain’t home cooking, it’s 2024, these are professional athletes, multi-million Aires, they have the food they want at all times all over the planet. Now you guys gotta deal with Corbin Burnes tonight who is on a tear right now so you could throw the all star team at him tonight and he’s gonna toss a shutout. So you’re going to get swept tonight, but you have no one to blame on that field, at all.

The M's need to start making some changes and putting some heat under some people. Polanco should be DFA'd - there is nothing he is doing that Ryan Bliss can't (for less). Crawford needs to have a couple of days off - there is almost no production out of the leadoff spot right now. Some additional hitting coaches need to be let go. Just a train wreck of an offense. M's will probably be out of first by the weekend and we can start tearing this apart. Go M's!

A Plea To Mike Elias, Part One The two runs allowed by Burnes were the first two runs allowed by a starter in this series. The bullpen getting knocked around in this series against a seriously struggling offense went unnoticed until Corbin Burnes concluded his start today. Akin and Baker combined for 5 earned runs allowed over 2/3rds of an inning. Akin gave up 3 plus 3 inherited runners before recording an out. And he’s was very important to us in the first half. People in the media keep saying the O’s need starting pitching over anything else, but I’ve been saying the same thing from the beginning. If you’re going to go after starters you have to either get 2 aces or one top shelf #3 pitcher, and that depends on what you do about the real hole in this team, easily the most important thing that needs help, the bullpen specifically the back end. If you get one big arm you have to get 2 aces so you can ensure your chances of getting 7 shutdown innings because you can only cover 8 and 9 from the pen. If you get two big arms then you only need a quality #3 starter. It’s all about October. If you have 2 aces you can lose every other game and win the World Series. Balance that out by having an above average 3/4 and you take enough pressure off your aces to ensure you’re not interfering with their game. Kremer/Povich could potentially get it done, but there’s no way of knowing hence the need to bring someone in. Here’s the real deal though, the Orioles have the most talented grouping of young talent we have seen in a long time, remember two of our potentially best players are in the minors right now. The point of drafting and developing players is to have this dream of a situation. Unfortunately we didn’t hit as well on the pitching side, but there just happens to be a number of very young but mostly-proven talents in the big leagues available for trade right now if you can ante up. If the Orioles can keep Kjerstad, Mayo and Holliday, but bring in Skubal, Crochet, Miller and Finnegan(or another reliever on his level, Helsley, even Tanner Scott looks like he figured it out finally and he’s a southpaw, point is a successful closer caliber arm, preferably with great swing and miss stuff, to be a 6th/7th inning guy preferably that can pitch out of inherited jams hence the K rate preference). Literally everyone but those 3 including a couple big league guys if it opens the door for Mayo or Kjerstad to play everyday or pitchers, pretty much anyone except cano, Perez, kimbrel, Coulombe and none of the starters except Irvin. The point of rebuilding is developing internally, we hit royal flush after royal flush on the position players, including some that we have no room for, but there’s young, proven talents at the major league level right now on the trade block. With the plethora we have in our arsenal, doesn’t it stand to reason that we should count ourselves extremely lucky that we can just purchase the young, developed pitchers with the excess position players we have, even if it means turning our farm system is #1 overall into #30 overall? With a few contracts you have this team for 5+ years, and look what Elias did in 5 years the first time around on a losing team with the worst owners in baseball. Imagine Westburg, Gunnar, Adley, Kjerstad, Holliday, Cowser, Mayo and Mountcastle with another 5 years of experience. Anthony Santander was a rule 5 pick up, look at what he’s evolved into with 5 years experience in the big leagues, this is only his 3rd year where he will get 600 at bats. We need Kjerstad to be able to play 3rd base like Mayo and they need to play a good 3rd base because in this initial seasons it’s going to be best if they split against L/RHP we keep O’Hearn and Santander and Mullins in the lineup. Holliday needs to go to the outfield because A) his defense is his biggest “flaw” and by flaw I mean it’s not stratosphere great like his hitting, running and power. B) He’s the more athletic of him, Mayo and Kjerstad. Since he can play an infield spot and outfield you can rotate him in a lot of different ways, and if Westburg, Kjerstad, Cowser or O’Hearn are struggling he’s right there. Sadly, when it comes to Tony, O’Hearn and Mullins we are eventually going to have to see them transition to bench roles if the whole young core is going to be able to play everyday. I think Tony is the guy you keep everyday and O’Hearn/mullins give you power, average, speed, outfield and infield depth. If we could make sure everyone comes back next year, even if you can’t maintain a bench of Mullins and O’Hearn because they’re too good to be there indefinitely, just having one post season with that lineup/bench next year, especially if the O’s get a couple big bullpen arms and starters, Skubal, Crochet, Miller, Helsley, sign Burnes, get Bautista and Bradish back next year and empty out the farm to bring those guys over with Holliday, Rutsch, Gunnar, SantanderDH/RF, KjerstadDH/RF, Mountcastle, Cowser, Mayo3B, Westburg2B 1-9 & Mullins/O’Hearn/Mateo/Urias/McCann on the bench(7 man pen/4 man rotation October)Bautista, Miller, Helsley, Cano, Povich, Crochet, Perez /// Burnes, Skubal, Bradish, Rodriguez(Crochet bc he used to be a reliever and has the best K rate in baseball and can obviously go multiple innings like Povich, it’s like an insurance policy for your starters so Hyde can have a short leash and only lose one reliever for 3 days so you just swap him out on the 25 man roster if it’s at/towards the end of the series and you’re certain he can’t pitch again, but let’s be real, all bets are off in the World Series)it’s just a set up that plugs all holes and if you’re concerned about losing depth, after you lock in Burnes this winter and the couple other small ones, you can use the winter to sign guys that give you that depth in AAA/AA and you can draft accordingly this year when the trades are done.
@BrutallyOrange
@BrutallyOrange 3 ай бұрын
Part Two The bottom line is, you could play baseball for 100 years and never have the opportunity the Orioles have with this plethora of young talent assembled almost entirely at the same time/age. Even if a couple you want to keep had to be sacrificed, if you add Skubal, Crochet and Miller you’re a World Series contender with just Gunnar, Adley, Tony and O’Hearn in the lineup especially when Bautista and Bradish come back. More so Felix than anyone, no offense Kyle. Seattle is in first place without that caliber bullpen and arguably one of those four players in their lineup, two tops, and many have said they could run the table in October with just those two hitting decently well in the postseason, if that. They simply have to do this just to say they cashed in on the opportunity, absolutely no one will blame them no matter what and that’s what all GMs are trying to avoid everyday, being blamed later. It can’t happen here. It’s incredibly lucky that the teams that are struggling, are struggling and they’re even there. Even Paul Skenes, if Pittsburgh is as stupid as Detroit, Chicago, Oakland and puts up, you get him. You can drop Skubal or crochet with skenes. Probably Skubal. Send Basallo to Detroit/pittsburgh, Bradfield jr to Chicago, Norby/Stowers to Oakland and beavers, Horvath, Johnson, Fabian and whoever else as fillers to whichever deal needs them. Try to hang onto McDermott, but it’s absolutely not a question to send him if it’s the difference in getting it done or not. Resign everyone else on the 25 man roster right now aside from the relievers that I didn’t mention as part of the 7 man pen for Octobers set up because we can live without them and use free agency to fill the depth gaps or the remaining farm talent because with the rotation and back end of the pen we will be able to give guys a shot with Suarez, cano, Perez, Bautista, miller, Helsley/Finnegan, Kimbrel the pen so if there are any issues you got enough big arms to get you through anything throughout the course of the season. I also think having this much star studded talent in the rotation and in the bullpen will prevent guys from overthrowing because there is no pressure on anyone to get the job done. Bautista is the only one and we already know he’s unphased by the closing pressure. Even the starters know they really only need to get through 5 to get a win so if they’re beyond that they don’t need to empty the tank to get 6-7. Obviously the line up takes pressure off them as well, which by keeping o’Hearn, Mateo, Mullins, Urias, hays you will have depth waiting in the wings even if it means having to send 3 of them down to AAA at all times. I doubt you’ll get complaints because they will all know that it’s because this makes us the World Series favorite. Any role you can play in that situation is a worth while one, and it’s not like they don’t know that they’re good enough, we just have that many great young players. After all the losing for hays and Mullins with the O’s, they’re not complaining, O’Hearn was a hair away from being out of baseball, Urias knows his defense has kept him in baseball so being in this position is a blessing and Mateo knows that there’s just better overall, consistent options ahead of him but his speed and defense make him a valuable asset to this depth so he’s going to have a chance to make a real impact in a big game like stealing a base in a tight World Series game and being the difference in a World Series win or loss, ask Dave Robert’s if he’s grateful for leaving an everyday job with one team to be a pinch runner in October on a world series winning team.

While it was really nice to see the offense get to Gilbert as a collective for the most part, my biggest takeaways were the walks by Adley and O’Hearn and they’re at bats all together. It’s obvious that Ryan is hot because of the hits he got, but Adley is about to take off too. He just didn’t have good contact last night, but his eye and pitch selection: I know he was mightily hated by Seattle pitchers. He’s gonna start to square up the balls he’s swinging at like we’ve seen him do so many times. Mark my words: Adley will go off tonight.
