Great and simple vids Dougie! The only difference was that I blew in thick beads and made sure they touched every single side and did it slow with a helper going behind me for quality control. My boat is in the water at the moment -- so I do not have the luxury of the indoor area. I do have the decks tarped to ensure moisture levels stay below 8%... I am noticing the recessed caulking when you flatten the caulking-- it "appears" lower than the surface of the wood. Is this an optical illusion-- or is the caulking actually lower than the grain of the battens? Cheers, Thomas S/Y EXPLORAR CONMIGO

Thanks for the Comments Thomas. The indoor option was a must for me, I had many other jobs to get done also, don't think I would have managed it outdoors with the drop in temperature and wet winters we get.. I had a couple of small areas where the caulking was recessed, couldn't really figure out why it was happening, maybe the angle I held the plastic scraper I used for pressing it in, not sure. By the time I did the final sand it was fine, it looks worse in the video. On a couple of runs I put another bead on top once the first had cured, sanded it off and perfect :) Cheers Doug

Great to see you back here so soon as, I might add, you promised ;-) So you didn't fancy taping off the whole deck and not sanding more.?!? Your reasons sir:? Time vs thickness of teak me thinks... Love watching this.. But once you've done this video I think you should do a follow up on another boat... Hi Warren, I looked into taping the seams prior to caulking, but it would be a huge amount of work and a lot of detail to mask round, also incredibly messy when removing the tape. The very first sanding i did when when she came in the shed was just a lightish sand to give me a workable surface for changing plugs and re-cutting the seams, I always new I would have to do another sanding nearer the end of the project, and to be honest a lot of the sanding you see is just removing the excess caulk, for sure more teak was sanded off but that was always going to be the case. Also most of the excess caulk was removed with the Multimaster blade, so sanding was just a minimum. If I had taped it I think I would still of had to sand. If I was doing it again I would do it the same way :) You will see in the next video that I used tape for the seams round the coach roof which was a must. I am planning to do more videos on Orla's maintenance, I have new perspex to install in the coachroof and all the deck fittings to re-bed, so a few more to come yet. Thanks Dougie
