So helpful! I come from fiddle music, and I was trying to copy the fiddle ornaments onto the harp, but I couldn´t really figure it out. This video helps a lot :)

Thanks a million Tiffany! Your video helped me tremendously understanding how to play Rolls on harp :) I have been working on it myself for years but couldn't understand why I can't play it safely. Thank you so much! God bless you for what you've done for the self-taught harpers at home.

Liked hearing about these techniques. I took notes. Not sure of last two which were the cut and thumb choke but it can wait as I am a newbie.

Tiffany would you consider doing a video (or even just a post) on how you write out your own sheet music? What program you use to make the notation, maybe some tips on notating your own arrangements?
@tiffanyharpandsong4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jaqueline, I use Musescore to write out my arrangements. It's a free notation program. It takes a little getting used to, but whenever I have a question about it I just google how to do it in musescore, and it usually comes up!

Thanks for the tutorial Tiffany. I am still taking lessons at my local school of music as I'm only a late beginner/ v early intermediate player. I have done some cuts and rolls. Was v interesting to see the other forms of ornamentations. Thank you again.

I have been wishing for a video like this! Thank you! My favourite ornament is the "turn". I have been wondering what to call it. Now, to practice... :D
@tiffanyharpandsong4 жыл бұрын
Yay! Technically it's not really a full turn... maybe it could be called a "partial turn..." Lol. Have fun!

Thank you Tiffany about this video! It is very helpful indeed! The thing that is the most difficult for me is adapting the fingering on the spot when adding a new or different ornament to a melody that I’ve already learned a certain way. Some Celtic music experts have told me that one should be able to play the same tune a lot of different ways (that is to say, be able to vary the ornementations on demand). Could you give some tips on practising a tune this way? What would you recommend?
@tiffanyharpandsong4 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlotte! You know I think I have a couple videos that might be helpful for your question. This one on changing your fingering after you've already learned a set fingering: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJfPnXWAbal-kNE And perhaps this one on standard fingering: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYOrp3mhYpeCppI

How do I find you Vedic on playing by ear
@tiffanyharpandsong3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I have a playlist of easy tunes to learn here: kzbin.info/aero/PL8t1iMxDi8gGZVYeA0ukEm1KhDXcGINUK Honestly though if you are a beginner it is a great idea to have at least a couple of private lessons, to make sure you aren't forming bad habits with technique. I give lessons on zoom if you are interested. if you're looking for online videos though, I would recommend www.LearningtheHarp.com. Christy-Lyn has a lot there for very early beginners. My videos are mainly about learning Celtic music for those who already play the harp some. Best of luck!
