At age 70, I am bewildered again. And I was a good friend........

@@murattaner7384 I prefer other trumpet players and other pianists :) anyway he is my favourite musician at all and could be extremely effective with every instrument he decided to play because he used them musically in order to create interesting musical situation regardless his (supposed?) technical limitations. more ore less in 1990 I heard him live with "The original quartet" in Milano - they played a wonderful encore and at a certain point he picked the trumpet up in a duet with Don Cherry ... it was wonderful. I don't know why that concert was never released on CD - it was better than any other released from that tour. Another astonishing experience later in 1992 with Prime Time - they played spelling the alphabet - he used alto and violin... when he doubled on violin it started to get all informal, but with a direction... it was a contrinuos crescendo (not in loudnes, but in musical intensity) lasting several minutes... each minutie I couldn't figure something more, but they got it ... unbelivable. (as an alto player he was obviously a virtuoso even if someone continue to think he was just ok... I play alto I know what I'm talking about)

@@emilianoturazzi I play trumpet and I'm always amazed when Ornette Coleman plays it. He could express himself on the instrument without limitations. The sound is open an powerful, really good chops!

Why joke? He surely was great. I saw him play a solo durıng a soundcheck and he sounded like Berliner Philarmonic. :))))
