If you think about it, Orochimaru is actually a really loving person. He loved his parents so much that he got traumatized when they die, but then he slowly became insane and power hungry. He has shown to support her dreams as Hokage and show affectionate on numerous occasions. Orochimaru has medically experimented on Mitsuki, manipulated him, erased his memory and basically mind fucked him, and wouldn’t cry if he died, would just replace him with the numerous clones he has made of him. It’s true, Orochimaru cares in his own twisted way for Mitsuki but he certainly isn’t a better parent. He is just as absent as Sasuke is as a parent, Mitsuki being entrusted to the leaf for them to watch over him. It’s not like orochimaru is there 24/7 for his child either. The fact you even say this makes me wonder if we are even watching the same series or are you that stupid? I have a feeling he was trying to revive his parent all along (which is why he teamed up with Sasori at Akatsuki and tried out Edo tensei) . He actually tried everything and it was impossible so he had to move on. The second plan was to essentially attain godhood with the Sharingan but that also turned out to be a rigged plot so he gave up. With all the experience he gained he moved on to his next project - being a parent and starting a family. It's quite clever if you think about it. It fills all what he needed and he realized he has so much to give.
