From Waihi Beach it takes about 1.5 hours walk to get all the way to the falls, but only about 45 minutes to Orokawa beach which is a beautiful spot in itself that we will definitely be heading back to.
Once you've passed the beach, the track onward to William Wright falls is no longer maintained which means jandals wasn't the best idea, and alongside this we most definitely noticed the lack of shade since we forgot our sunscreen, & our water. 🙇‍♀️
If you get sick of skipping from rock to rock up the creek to the falls, sometimes part of the track is still visible so just look for orange markers. 🟠 If you do attempt parts of the track though, just beware you'll be met with cuti cuti grass and itchy scratches - but it’s either that or thick hordes of sandflies around every third corner along the river. 😂
Oh, and your togs for a swim in at the beach on your way back. 👙 Thankfully, we were prepared for that at least!

Hiking an "experienced tramping track" in jandals, that's brilliant! We tried this walk a couple of weeks ago and gave up, the cutty grass was too annoying! Entertaining video.
