This song is a timeless song. it is amazing the late Somali singer star Fathuma Qasim who did hardly speak Oromo sings perfectly in Oromo language without scant accent.

Ajumati mean I love you. I love Oromo music but I am pure Somali. Oromo is very rich language. it Cushitic language like Somali and Afar languages.

Not really, Ahmed. ''Achumati'' is an expression/word used to reject or dismiss something disagreeable that another person [in this case a sweetheart or a lover] has done or is doing. The expression "achumati!" [note the exclamation mark I used with the word], comes from an adjective: "achi"; which means = "there" &/or "over-there". In this case, the speaker says "achumati!"; to mean: "please just leave the issue over-there or right where it is; implying that the speaker does not want to continue the discussion/argument any further. Basically, "achumati!" means: "leave it right there as I don't want to discuss about it any further" ... Hope it helps. Achumati!

@@yaballo1 Yaballo, I think you should teach more about the Oromo language to those of us who want to learn. I have Oromo cousins who speak more Somali than Oromo and all of us can benefit from your scholarly knowledge. Is there a good English to Oromo dictionary you can recommend?

@@d.x.gaxnug3857 - glad to hear that there are fellow Oromos who, for one reason or the other & even our Somali brothers, want to learn Afaan Oromoo. But, be mindful that: a) the Oromo language - unlike its Somali cousin - is a long way to go yet to become 'a sandardised' language. Still, there are great disparities between say the 'eastern dialects of Afaan Oromoo' [those spoken by Oromo clans who live east of the 'Great Rift Valley' & happen to speak the more 'authentic', 'purer' or 'original' version of Afaan Oromoo] & the 'western dialect of Afaan Oromo' that, though not 'pure' due to its heavy admixture with the Amharic & various other languages in the middle-western parts of Ethiopia, has become a de-facto Afaan Oromoo [though many Oromos from the east & south resist that]. The eastern dialects of Afaan Oromoo are all mutually & easily intelligible they include: Borana, Gabra, Orma (Kenya - near Mombasa), Arsi, Hararghe, Karayyuu, Wollo & Guji. The western dialects of Afaan Oromoo include: Shoa, Wollaga, Ilu-aba-boora, Jimma. Also, the eastern dialects are the closest to the Somali language in many ways because many of these communities share a long border with various Somali clans. Yes, there have been various attempts made by linguists to write dictionaries of Afaan Oromoo or Oromo-English/English-Oromo dictionaries BUT many are region-specific & tend to focus on eastern or western dialects of Afaan Oromoo. There are some good dictionaries written by German & Dutch linguists written for Oromo communities in Kenya & southern Ethiopia aka 'the Borana dialect of Afaan Oromoo' that covers [Borana, Gabra & Orma communities who live in southern Ethiopia plus in northern, eastern & southern Kenya all the way to the port city of Mombasa]. But those Borana-English/English-Borana dictionaries are too region-specific & may be more difficult for Oromos who speak different dialects - especially for those who happen to speak the 'western dialect of Afaan Oromo'. However, there are some basic Oromo-English/English-Oromo dictionaries for those who want to learn the language from a scratch or for children & adults completely new to the language. [eg: 'Oromo Learner's Dictionary: Oromo-English, English-Oromo (Oromo kasahorow) Bilingual Edition' - try amazon.com]. Also, the follwoing is a good app that could help translate Oromo words into English & vice versa ['Galmee Jechoota Afaan Oromoo Inglizii/Afaan Oromoo English Dictionary with English to English Definitions'. apps.apple.com/us/app/galmee-jechootaa-afaan-oromoo-english-dictionary/id1209871765]. Of course, you can just google 'English-Oromo' OR 'Oromo-English dictionary' to search for online &/or hard-copy dictionaries. Good Luck. Nagaa badhaadhani.

@@yaballo1 Thanks for the explanation. I never knew that the Oromo language was that diverse. My Oromo family members are from Bali or Arusi and Nagele-Borana areas. Also, I have relatives who were born and raised in Diridawa and speak very fluent Afaan Oromoo. These family members make me jealous because the way they switch with ease from Somali, Oromo, Amharic and even Arabic. They told me that they were able to learn all these languages by just playing with the neighborhood kids.I grew up in Mugdishu but my family is from Ogaden. You are not going to believe me but I grew up with many Oromo kids in Mugdishu in the 80s but we all spoke Somali. It was a pleasure Yaballo! Nagaati
