Only if she had a good parental figure in her life and was Rightly guided. And dirty past? She was just trying to survive. This makes me want to think about the real life women that are living the same life as this movie character. This movie recap is somewhat related to mine. It's not like living with many men, but metaphorically men are life struggles in my life. Serious health issues, chronic migraines, ups and downs at performing jobs at work, mistreatments from close relations. These setbacks in life traumatize me. Eventually even after finding the love of my life, he mistreated me, abused me, the same way Jolene's husband beat her with the painting. Many times, I have to call police for his behavior and finally taking divorce. Now sitting alone, I always think of my fantasy world of living a happy married life with children but that is not possible. I always smile away the thought and finally realized instead of wanting for which is not possible I should explore my inner skills and build myself.

A lot of these comments are really f***** u*. That's a girl with the first husband. She cheated on him. There is a framework. First of all she was a teenager in high school. Her husband brought him to his family's home, Were they treated her like a servant. Is just mistrated by his aunt. She was disregarded by her husband. He gaslet her very valid concerns. She was not being seen or heard. This is emotional abuse. And then her husband wasn't giving her any attention He wasn't opening up to her. And then the uncle who's supposed to be a grown a** adult to know better, Took her. Gave her attention, Saw her, Treated her better than the rest of the household. Made her feel like she was wanted safe and loved. Until the aunt found out. Than everything was her fault. The high Schooler's fault. I'm willing to bet none of that would have happened if her husband actually took her concerns seriously and didn't disregard her. He allowed his family to treat her that way. He was not being a man protecting his wife. It doesn't doesn't say in this recap but Jolene was being abused in her foster home she's being physically abused by her foster mom and sexually abused by her foster dad. Which means she is groomed to accept the advances a father like figures. Then when she marries Mickey she's brought into a home Tready aunt and uncle are not much different than her foster parents. And Mickey disregards her concerns. He was supposed to protect her and he didn't.

Also, weren't y'all the ones saying women are more mature. Even if she was 16 or 17, by your logic, that's still equivalent to a male 18 or 19 year old? It doesn’t really has to do with her looks (I mean it’s factor just as an attractive lady having more men interested in her), abusers can sense if a person will let them get away with it. They start with small things, and keep escalating if allowed to do it, are not told a clear “no”, or just dumbed by any person with logic. That is why many women seem to “repeat the same mistake again and again”, are told to have “bad taste in men” because relationship after relationship they seem to end an abuser or a cheater. It’s not them choosing this guys but them having some psychological issues. And I say woman because the movie is about a woman but it’s same for men.

If she hadn't cheated on her first husband, she could have had a happy life once they saved enough to move into their own house (which they were already working on). Instead, because she was temporarily dissatisfied with the way her married life felt (since it came with very real, human difficulty) she willingly and happily cheated on her husband with his own uncle and fully intended on abandoning him. The rest of the relationships throughout her life were a direct result of that choice, and her approach to the rest of her life decisions stemmed from the same short-sighted, selfish mentality she shows through most of the story. That woman belonged to the streets from the moment we met her, regardless of what else happens. She was a shitty person who kept bringing equally shitty people into her life, until she finally ran into the arms of a bigger piece of shit than she was. It really is, quite literally, all her own fault.

I know right? A minor gets married and a much older man has sexual relationship with her.. after being abused, and people are blaming her
@thatguy6440 Жыл бұрын
@@justagirl8757 17 to an early 20-something is, by no means, a completely unusual age difference nor a 'much older man'. The uncle she had an affair with within a week, however, was INDEED a 'much older man'. Also, there's nothing that claims she was 'abused' as an orphan, only that she married an older man who loved her to find a BETTER life; literally her primary goal is, was, and remained using others to find a life that was easier on her. The fact that you people have to make up whole extra plot points in your head to justify never holding women accountable to their own actions is fucking laughable; you can't even help it when discussing fictional people!

yes in some parts. she was too suggestable, not headstrong, never became self reliant and also it's a poorly written film

Any men blaming an underage girl for “cheating” and expect her to stay faithful is mentally deranged. The brain is not even fully developed until 25 !!!😢

The dumbest comment on the Internet lately. Does she not know it was wrong to cheat on her husband?

It is if not giving puberty blockers as matter of fact. Puberty is onset trigger of adult thinking. Nuro physiology fully formed into adult by 16-18 years old. Although not an elder state of wisdom tell latter. Most 10 year olds know basic right from wrong if rased right anyways. She knew she was wrong for it just like the scumbag she wanted to betray her husband for. She cared nothing for the people in her life only what she exploited out of them. She didn't even go for visitation of her son after she failed to secure him as an income source. Ya that part of her life was past your magic 25 years old too.
