But I have to tell you while the story beats in the anime are similar, there is ALOT of differences between the two! Such as he never met the Supreme who picked him up from his room at night. They met when he was fleeing the debt collectors at a construction site! (It also had a flavor of retcon since it felt like for sympathy, he was "lying" to him about how much his life sucks and was given the system out of both sympathy and because the Dude was tired of it's trolling nature now that he was an ultimate and was giving it to the MC! Yeah it's trolling nature of "punishments" if he failed assignments is true in the manwha as in the anime! Though I forgot if the Gender Bender threat was made by it in the manwha) The Main Heroine's design is REALLY different then how she's portrayed here (her hair is NOT black for one! I like the anime design) and the designs . Also the Magical Girl chick and his first meeting wasn't so intense (I don't remember her ever being aggressive to him like in the Anime, They got along largely cause he's from "the mortal realm" and she was VERY into League of Legends so bonded with him over it) and he and his friends DO go to the mortal realm again where he is able to pay off his dad's debt, find him and help him cultivate (This is where I mentioned the "retcon" as it shows he was "telling the truth" in the first chapter about his circumstances) I'd say I prefer the Manwha more. But that's because I read it first before the Anime! Anime has more interesting designs and effects (can't wait for him to get his flying brick LOL) and I'll say the other Manwha to Anime about the Boy born with his god powers and trying to live a "normal life" while also keeping everything together in the background though still noticed by the powers that be. I prefer the anime over the Manwha (do to seeing THAT ONE first before the Manwha! The Anime felt more focus, minus that final episode, but it's the only real negative! Writer in the manwha seemed to write whatever came to mind with chapters so it's abit unfocused with meaningless stuff compared to the anime where there is some meaning to the events, and side stuff)

I get the "But the characters" (names, ETC should give it away on what is what as if your seeing chinese character/lettering then it's manhua, read enough Chinese and Korean works and names to get which is which! But I wrote in haste so Manhwa was stuck in my head) But yeah daily reminders are good!

I've seen so many systems in anime, but what always bothers me is "cultivation". Or somewhat how unclear it is. Even when different animes say to use the "same" system like qi, seeing how popular it used to be, they at least explain it as the energy that can either enhance physical abilities or create a generic energy blast. If there are elements involved, it's at least explained or shown (like how abilities in Naruto works, sage, ninjutsu, and genjustsu, elements). But when it comes to cultivation, I feel like the author thinks of any random ability, and says its basis is cultivation and that somehow explains it. Am I just stupid? If so someone please explain.

Nope. You're not stupid. It's just a lazy way that authors "explains" a mysterious energy that you don't even work hard for. Just meditate, excrete impurities, and voila, you're OP. And it's always the Korean/Chinese webtoons that does this too. Every single manga/webtoon/manhwa that does it like this automatically gets a -4 points for me personally. Unless it's comedy, like Return of the Crazy Demon.

Well, the thing is, "Cultivation", stemming from Qigong (Essentially, life energy cultivation) has always *BEEN* a vague thing. The idea with Qigong is that you're manipulating energy of both yourself, and the world around you. So, your first explanation of Qi energy enhancing physical or energy blasts kind of fits...BUT. Qigong is much more all encompassing. While you can simplify it to life energy as I mentioned above, other meanings for it include universal energy, including heat, light, and electromagnetic energy, or the relationship between matter, energy, and spirit. When you extend it out this far, you can see why the author can base any ability off it, right? Cultivation, when looked at through every definition... It's practically just the ability to manipulate reality.

Another reason why cultivation doesn't get explained is because culturally it's like spiritual magic and it's been a recurring theme in asian fiction for decades at least and since most grow up already aware it's a common theme, authors don't bother rehashing for audiences. Like, my parents read cultivation fantasy novels as children as well. It's just a popular catch all trope like magic,
