I remember seeing something on a video that Archie might enjoy, just a simple cardboard box "kitten fort". From what I recall, it was just a standard size box, perhaps 18 x 12. Just thinking about it on my own if I were to make one, I would try to find a fairly strong or heavy wall thickness, as even a little guy like Archie could demolish a thin wall box in short order, especially since he's a growing boy. The length and width would not be important, but I think the height would be. I would try to find one that Archie could stand upright in, but not to tall to prevent him from jumping out of. I think I would probably cut the 4 flaps off, and turn it upside down. I would cut one rectangular hole on one of the long sides of it, near the end but leaving enough, maybe 4", so as to not weaken the box. I would make the hole wide enough so Archie so fit easily through it without having to squeeze. I might make the height of the hole a little shorter than Archies standing height, as he might enjoy having to duck a little, but again leaving enough of the wall on top to keep it strong. I would make a similar sized hole on the other long side, only closer to the opposite end. I would cut a square hole on top of the box, the size being large enough so he can easily fit through it, I remember the kittens in the video having a great time scooting into the side openings then peeking up through the top hole until jumping out and surprising their prey, either imaginary or another kitten. They might have had two holes on the top, I can't remember for sure. Again, I would try to find a sturdy enough box so the little guy can jump on or from the top without it caving in. It is just a cardboard box though, for a kitten who might grow out the novelty of it after a while. Just use your imagination and you can come up with something fun of your own design. See, I rambled on again... have fun with Archie, I can't have a pet where I'm living now, but I am going to have to move pretty soon and hopefully I can get a cat of my own again. Take care, James

That is a great request, and good advice. At the time that we found and rescued Archie, she was alone, and we already had (have) 7 other adult cats we rescued over the years as well. We don't have room for any more cats. 8 is going to me our max now. The 7 other cats live in the garage and go outside during the day time sometimes in a safe and secure yard. Archie is now 11 months old, and we have been putting her in with the other cats, but she gets in fights with some of them. So, we keep her separate from the cats that she doesn't get along with. If we didn't have so many other rescue cats, we would have gotten a kitten buddy for Archie. :D ALL of our other cats are spayed and neutered - to help stop the overpopulation.

Yes, it's been 19 days since we found Archie, and rescued the orphaned kitten. We think Archie was about 2 weeks old when we found him (he turned out to be a she). So, in this video, Archie is actually at least around 27 days old.
