Orquesta Intercultural Wayuu Taya

Launched in 2022, the Wayuu Taya Intercultural Orchestra Program is a collaborative effort between the Wayuu Taya Foundation and the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela (El Sistema) under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. The program is a part of the broader Rhythm of Creativity Fiore Project funded by Frank Giustra, the Stichting Giustra International Foundation, Acceso, CORE, and other extraordinary funders.
The impact of the orchestra program is profound. Currently, 240 children from the Mara Municipality, aged 5 to 14, are participating, with the involvement of 17 indigenous communities and more than 100 children on the waiting list. The Ancestral Music Program, an integral part of this initiative, has engaged 750 students in its mission to inculcate and preserve Wayuu traditions through natural and experiential learning.
Beyond musical notes, our commitment extends to offering academic training to ensure holistic development, providing musical instruments to give each student a voice, supplying transportation to bridge distances, and offering nutritious meals to support their overall well-being.

Lanzado en 2022, el Programa de la Orquesta Intercultural Wayuu Taya es un esfuerzo colaborativo entre la Fundación Wayuu Taya y el Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros Juveniles e Infantiles de Venezuela (El Sistema) bajo la dirección de Gustavo Dudamel. El programa es parte del proyecto más amplio Ritmo y Creatividad Fiore, financiado por Frank Giustra, la Stichting Giustra International Foundation, Acceso, CORE y otros colaboradores.
Actualmente, 240 niños del Municipio de Mara, de entre 5 y 14 años, están participando, con la participación de 17 comunidades indígenas y más de 100 niños en la lista de espera. El Programa de Música Ancestral, una parte integral de esta iniciativa, ha involucrado a 750 estudiantes en su misión de inculcar y preservar las tradiciones Wayuu a través del aprendizaje natural y experiencial.
Más allá de las notas musicales, nuestro compromiso se extiende a ofrecer formación académica para asegurar un desarrollo holístico, proporcionar instrumentos musicales para dar una voz a cada estudiante, suministrar transporte para acortar distancias y ofrecer comidas nutritivas para apoyar su bienestar general.
