My mother`s favourite piece of classical music ... heard Scheherazade alot when I was a young child, and I can see why mum had it on so many times, relaxing and beautiful, and I appreciate its wonder now. it will be played at my mum`s funeral.

The Romantic/Impressionist eras of music are my favorite eras and this is one of my very favorite pieces. This is beautifully done here. The use of an orchestra playing almost completely in unison is so far ahead of its time for that time period, it contributed greatly to the development of modern music. The floating melody evokes tenderness and sadness at the same time but ends on a major scale which is hopeful and uplifting.

I feel your pain, but being negative only hurts ourselves. It is the times we live in where music like Justin Bieber is popular (mostly with adolescents I might add). Let us not look down on them but instead realize this music will never die as long as we keep listening to it and supporting it.

Wow... I love Gergiev´s gesture at the beginning. Giving an image of the warm sound he wants the orchestra to produce. This movement is absolutely tender, noble and beautiful...

I used to pipe this through the British Midland Crewroom in Heathrow whilst the crew reported for their early duties to try and keep them calm and relaxed for their day .... And it usually worked. Happy times.

Incredible !!!! Could it be more intensely beautiful. What a great listening experience to start the day and listen to again and again. Thank you Rimsky-Korsakov!!!! .... and of course the brilliance of the musicians.

Peter Farrar - This is one of the most beautiful classical romatic ballads composed by Nicolai Rimsky-Kosakov "Scheherazade, Young Prince & Princess,"a hint of eastern flavour. The awesome energetic impressive conductor, Valery Gergiev, supremely disciplined & commanded his superb Wienna Phylharmonic orchestra to raise their performance to the high standards required for this beautiful classical music, & they achieved that in every musical movement, with the massive string sections playing a distinctive part in the programme. Every member of this superb orchestra performed to a supreme high professional standards. The conductor should be very happy with his orchestra's superb performance. In my opinion Korsakov's "Song Of India", relegated this beautiful music into second place. In my opinion Percy Faith's orchestra's version of the beautiful Rimsky-Korsakov's "Song Of India", is the best I've Heard. But mysteriously , KZbin blocked viewers comments. Golden words addressing the classical musical genius of Rimsky Kosakov, by Peter E. Farrar.

Man, that conductor looks like he just lost his entire family holdings in a stock market crash. You know he worked incredibly hard preparing for this.
