I want to appreciate how quiet was the interviewer through this story. no fake laughing, no pretending. I wish these Talk show hosts do the same sometimes.

the interviewer is Dick Cavett, one of the best American TV hosts. I've seen several episodes of his show and he was always very good with guests
@ClueSign2 жыл бұрын
I so totally agree. And he wasn't promoting some upcoming film - the guest was telling a fabulous story.

I guess I'll admit it to you: I got lost at the end. what was so funny about Churchill bowing to the Welle's financier?
@richardshort39147 жыл бұрын
*teller121* It wasn't the financier. It was still Welles, but rather than a simple nod of the head, this time Churhill stood and bowed.
@Parialated3 жыл бұрын
@@teller121 his acknowledgement helped him get the finances the first meeting and the russian financier took notice, he personally thanked Churchill that his acknowledgement helped him get the deal and the time after that orson saw Churchill with the financier present Churchill purposely made a bow to help him again...
@nervesconcord2 жыл бұрын
@@Parialated It's worth mentioning that the bow will have also been very tongue in cheek, not necessarily to help Welles.

I have always liked Orson Welles. I'm 61 years old and I always thought for some reason when I was a lot younger I thought he was a Brit. Just because of his speech his mannerisms and his diction and vocabulary. I found out later on that he was from Milwaukee if I can recall. This man was such a brilliant human being extremely talented and dedicated. And he did go against the norm when it came to the Hollywood.

We simply do not produce men like this anymore, cultured, educated men who put art above artifice. Welles cared about the way things were done, not the money to be made off the end product. Name an actor today and I can name 20 more just like that actor with no differences that matter. (Save a very few, and we all know those few are the ones who never get the part anymore.) Bravo, Mr. Welles. Thank you for all you shared.

Churchill had the rare distinction of being able to see into the future, the past, the time he was in, and had a reasonable understanding of what was within himself. And unlike almost all "great" men... a brilliant sense of humour, based in self deprecation. When asked why he was late to commons once he quipped that he'd been up all night rehearsing his spontaneous witticisms.... self deprecating, revealing, honest, funny,
