What a beautiful, natural bride. The mothers happiness and protectiveness for her daughter was touching. The spontaneous prayers just gorgeous all round. A special culture may the couple remain happy and blessed.

For all of the kind commenters - a few answers. I filmed this wedding of my niece - I guess about 12 years ago and published it later. Most of my nieces, nephews and children filmed in it are already married with kids. My 3 year old granddaughter is 15. The wedding took place in Gush Ezion on the West Bank which is why there are guns present - defensive use for the wedding - or belonging to off-duty soldiers who cannot leave their weapons unattended as they are personally responsible for them. The hands over or on the head is a gesture of blessing with the one placing his/her hands giving a blessing to the recipient for health, happiness, children, a good and moral life - whatever is appropriate and comes from the heart at the moment. The couple is still happily married. The bride, my niece is a housewife with a house full of kids and her husband became a lawyer after finishing some years of religious studies in yeshiva and his army service. Best wishes to all of you.

Jeff Kohn Do not insult yourself. The place of this wedding is in ancient Judea not the West Bank. The W. Bank is at 1000 ft below sea level down at the Dead Sea. Gush Etzion is in the mountains 2500 to 3000 ft above sea level.

I saw the bride praying or "healing" other people by placing her hand over their heads? Is she praying for them. Is that the tradition. Beautiful holy wedding, and such a joy.
@JM.53872 ай бұрын
She's giving them blessings. Tradition says that the Gates of Heaven are open to her prayers on the day of her wedding, so her blessings carry special strength. On a more basic level, it's a way of sharing one's joy and gratitude with others.

This is amazingly beautiful! I do wish, though, that it had the natural sounds and music that were taking place in the video, rather than the pop music sound track you put over the video. The bride and everyone else are so natural and innocent, not all made up and commercial like you see in some videos, as if it's a movie. I love this wedding -- the sacredness and the joy -- just wish we could hear what we are seeing.

Odelliah is crying. Zev says I have no more tears left. At first when I moved in with Naji after our trip to China I cried but there was no liquid rolling down my cheeks. At my wedding when Mickey Mantel said "YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE" we both fell on each others shoulders and an eerie silence beset the banquette hall of the Hotel. I don't know how ×ong we cried but I know how long we kissed, our kiss was for eternity.

Beautiful! My wife and I had elements of Christian/Catholic and Jewish weddings. We read from new and old testament, said our vows under a hoopha and myself and the men wore yamulkas . We drank wine her mother said the blessing over and we broke a glass and said "mazel tov" My wife read from science and health a Christian science text so we were 80% Jewish I guess but now my church will not allow me to recieve the holy eucharist until I get my marriage done by a priest. Oy vey I say! rules!
@shulalavy16988 жыл бұрын
THE PRIST WANT YOU TO BE 100% UNDER HIS OTHORITY THAT IS ALL. IF HE WILL LOOZ HIS CONGREGATION HE WILL CUORL FOR YOU TO COME WITH YAMULKAS. BY THE WAY AS HIGH DGREES IN THE CRICHIONS AS PRACTIS JUDAISM LIKE THE YAMULKA AND HEBREW
@kittyglitter53765 жыл бұрын
Glen h I am catholic and always thought it would be beautiful to get married under a chuppah. I love the look of it, but what will rule “you can’t have the Eucharist until” you get married by a priest. Silly! I’d say you were married in the eyes of G-d, and that is what’s most important! Mazel tov.

At 6:00, is this when the couple goes into a private room to consummate the marriage, and then shows a bloody sheet?
@JeffKohn5 жыл бұрын
No. This does not happen as you describe. They go into a private room where they break their fast (they have been fasting the day of the wedding which is a serious contemplative time) and besides breaking the fast, they may hug for the first time. (Physical contact before marriage is forbidden in the Jewish faith.

Why not just have a normal wedding led by a government official?
Psalm 45 My heart is moved by a noble theme as I recite my verses to the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. You are the most handsome of men; grace flows from your lips. Therefore God has blessed you forever. Mighty warrior, strap your sword at your side. In your majesty and splendor- in your splendor ride triumphantly in the cause of truth, humility, and justice. May your right hand show your awe-inspiring acts. Your arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies; the peoples fall under you. Your throne, God, is[b] forever and ever; the scepter of Your[c] kingdom is a scepter of justice. You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of joy more than your companions. Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume all your garments; from ivory palaces harps bring you joy. Kings’ daughters are among your honored women; the queen, adorned with gold from Ophir, stands at your right hand. Listen, daughter, pay attention and consider: forget your people and your father’s house, 11 and the king will desire your beauty. Bow down to him, for he is your lord. The daughter of Tyre, the wealthy people, will seek your favor with gifts. In her chamber, the royal daughter is all glorious, her clothing embroidered with gold. 14 In colorful garments she is led to the king; after her, the virgins, her companions, are brought to you. 15 They are led in with gladness and rejoicing; they enter the king’s palace. Your sons will succeed your ancestors; you will make them princes throughout the land. I will cause your name to be remembered for all generations; therefore the peoples will praise you forever and ever.
