My husband and I are very new to Orthodoxy and taking it very serious. Please pray for us. We are currently members of a Presbyterian church. We aren’t convinced of presbyterianism any longer. Please pray for us. For wisdom, guidance and lots of grace.

Eikona had it available from their website. I don't see it on there today, but I know that it WAS there at one time, because theirs is the setting we use at our church. Christ is risen!

I love it, but where is the beginning chant "Come Receive The Light"?
@rossboss16 жыл бұрын
While that begins the Orthros service, it's not part of the Paschal Canon.
@SuperZinger16 жыл бұрын
True! Yet I used to have Eikona's CD and that is the way it starts, but for some reason they cut it off and started it later in the recording!

What is the paschal cannon? Is paschal a composer? How old is this?
@jaspershepherdsmith9047 Жыл бұрын
Pascha = Easter
@petarjovanovic1481 Жыл бұрын
Most of this was written between the 4th and 6th century. Of course the parts which are scripture quotations were written in the 1st century or before.
@justforever96 Жыл бұрын
Yes paschal = Easter, ie the Paschal Lamb, etc. And canon, not cannon. One is a large gun, one is an accepted body of knowledge. The words of the Bible are canon, many traditions and practices and prayers of various churches are considered canon to them. Star Wars fans consider the collective narrative surrounding their universe to be "canon" when it is generally accepted and integrated into the rest of the narrative. Any book or film that contradicts an established canon fact will be considered non-canon.
@user-xh9td7ts1l9 ай бұрын
Paschal canon was written (compiled) by St John Damascene in 8th century.
