@Leonardo's Truth Do you consider the Divine Liturgy to be Roman Catholic because some churches that have chosen to split from the Faith still use the Divine Liturgy today? God forbid! And if you are searching for schematics, look at those churches that have split from the Orthodox Church to join Rome. Also look at 1054AD and 1204AD.
@steliosvoskos96105 жыл бұрын
@Leonardo's Truth If you are considering the Divine Liturgy to be Catholic just because it was written by the Holy Fathers Saint Basil the Great and Saint John Chrysostom, I'd like to tell you 4 things: a) Saint Basil the Great and Saint John Chrysostom were called Ecumenical Teachers, Hierarchs and Saints in the Orthodox Church way before the schism, way before you invent the title "Doctor of the Church" and way before you recognise them as Doctors, or even Saints of the Church in the Catholic Church. So if the church that you created after the Schism recognises those Liturgies, that's good. b) The Divine Liturgies of Saint John the Chrysostom and Saint Basil the Great are derived from the Divine Liturgies of Saint Mark the Evangelist and Saint James. In fact only a few prayers are different! c) Probably the only reason you recognise those Divine Liturgies and you have them in your Church, is because after the schism of 1054, some eastern churches that were Orthodox, decided to be in full communion with Rome. See for example the Melkite Greek Catholic Church that joined you in 1724. d) Saint John the Chrysostom and Saint Basil the Great were defenders of the Orthodox teachings, hence why Saint John Chrysostom confronted the teachings of Saint Augustine the Hippo about the original sin. Anyway, that was the last reply from me. Wishing you to have a good fasting during the Great Lent and to go with a purified soul at Holy Communion on the day of Resurrection of our Lord.
@steliosvoskos96105 жыл бұрын
@Leonardo's Truth Whatever I said in my previous comments were just the historical truth, that no-one can deny. I will not reply to any of the offensive adjectives that you have asserted to us. At least be conscious of the Holy Days that we are going through. And if you are so convinced that you are in the Church of Christ, please stay humble, deal with your passions through repentance and Confession and I am sure that our Lord will give you a much bigger reward. And remember that in the Bible, those who were lacking morals, they at least had the virtue of staying humble in front of the Lord. Happy Lent, Happy Resurrection!

I remember listening to this song every Friday evening the year this song came out. I still love this song. As a Protestant growing up with differing kinds of Charismatic worship, this song really drew me more & more to the Eastern Orthodox Church. I never fully gave in though. And I owe it all to God. Unlike most Protestants who consider members of the EOC to be saved, I believe I was, especially since I spent hours worshipping God with what I thought was very Christian music. I even remember having to clear the history on the computer when listening to music like this [because my parents couldn't make up their minds on whether or not Orthodox are saved], so I preferred using my phone. But sooner or later God brought excellent people into my life who taught me the sad truth of Eastern Orthodox history, theology, developments, & their own sects they so often tell Protestants are all one but tend to say the opposite among themselves: Old Calenderists, the issue about Aerial Toll Houses, Russian Old Believers, Lipoveni, Inocentii, & a section The Army of the Lord [Oastea Domnului] who reunited with the ROC after nearly a century of heavy persecution from [I actually consider the other Ostasi Protestants like Lutherans or High Church Anglicans, primarily bc of Ostasii's historic confession of Sola Fide, long abandoned by those who reunited with Bucharest].

Interesting, as a Roman Catholic this is almost what we say towards the end of our Divine Mercy chaplet --- "Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world". We say it 3 times. Of course we use a rosary which I don't think Orthodox use but I could be wrong. Maybe one day these churches will join together as much of the differences really seem to be more semantic than theological which is a good thing...those are not hard to overcome and both church liturgies point towards the same thing. Nice hymn.
@7swordquanta4594 жыл бұрын
The equivalent of the Rosary to Eastern Catholics and Orthodox Christians is the chotki/prayer rope. They pray the Jesus Prayer with it. Also, the Trisagion's origin dates way back, even prior to the Great Schism. This is why Catholics and Orthodox Christians share this prayer
@srfrg9707 Жыл бұрын
Brother in Christ, those things are remnant of your past orthodoxy. Orthodoxy is not another denomination. It's the trunk of all denominations. If you think both liturgies point towards the same think you do not understand the orthodoxy liturgy anymore. You used to do the mass the same way we do our holy liturgy : The priest was the fist among the faithful, facing the altar, leading them towards the divine chanting "We come TOGETHER in the peace of the Lord". Now your priest is performing a show in front of the public, standing at the sacred place where the tabernacle used to stand is the chair of the bishop. You have divinified the clergy and set God aside. Those differences are not semantic. They are dogmatic. They can be overcome only if we stop being orthodox, God forbid. Orthodoxy is not ours. It's every Christian's path. Seek your orthodoxy. Babylon has fallen.
