Orthopedic Surgeon Fatally Shot by Patient: Police

A Tennessee surgeon was allegedly shot dead by a patient. The nightmare erupted at a medical office outside Memphis, where Dr. Benjamin Mauck specialized in hand surgery. Cops say he was in the examination room when gunfire erupted. The suspect was reportedly a disgruntled patient who had been allegedly hassling the 43-year-old doctor for a week. The suspect, Larry Pickens, was arrested soon after the shooting. Inside Edition's Steven Fabian spoke with a former patient who says Mauck saved his life.

I worked as a virtual medical scribe for Campbell Clinic in Collierville in 2020 during the pandemic. I never met Dr. Mauck, but all the Campbell ortho docs and staff were so kind. You could see that they really cared for their patients. RIP Dr. Mauck.

This gunmen couldn't handle the light of blessings emitting from this Doctor, so he took his life over something that could've been handled at a different facility. I worked in medicine for over twenty years, and I was abused by patients and some doctors. I'm sad to the core for this kind doctor and his family. It is a terrible tragedy for all those concerned.
