I had a lot of fun! One thing I didn’t mention is how quickly patients get better. You give them an injection in their knee, and four weeks later when they come back, their pain is gone (def not all the time though haha) when it does happen, it’s quite rewarding

@@DaywithaPA I can definitely see how that would be super rewarding, seeing a relatively quick solution; I'm sure not a lot of areas get to experience that.

Hi! I’m a health studies major on the pre-PA track and I just want you to know that I love your videos! They are super helpful and it gives me more of an idea of what I’m going to be doing in the future. So thank you!!

I’ve been struggling with deciding which specialty to go into haha! I think Orthopedics might be the one. It seems very interesting. Thank you for this video and the heads up about what you learn in PA school vs the real thing. This will force me to learn terminology and do more research on my own outside of PA school. Thanks!!

Loved hearing about dictation! I currently scribe for a neurologist and he will usually dictate only his assessment. Hes been doing it for so many years and his assessment still has typos and run ons, and more. It'll never be perfect so dont feel bad lol

Haha i feel like its pretty much inevitable. Scribing would be really good experience. Sometimes I wish I would’ve taken that route!

Thanks for these videos! Super helpful and much appreciated. Also, you're teeth are amazingly white...if you use anything other than good old fashioned toothpaste, I'd love to know! haha

Haha I get that a lot 😂 I honestly think the camera makes them whiter. I don’t use a filter or anything. I use crest 3D white toothpaste? 🤷‍♂️

How many weeks did you observe your preceptor before he allowed you to see new pts and come up with your initial dx. Also, what did your preceptor expect of you when you first started that rotation.

I followed him for about an hour haha. They really didn’t expect me to know what I was doing. It’s one thing to start a FM rotation and have an idea of how to manage patients. It’s another thing to start in a specialty. They allowed me to see which ever patients I felt comfortable with until I was seeing every kind of complaint.

I'm about to start my elective rotation in ortho. Do you have any recommendations for preparing and studying for this rotation? Thanks!

Yeah I’ve loved using OrthoBullets. They have an app called Bullets. You can filter their content as a MS1/2, MS 3/4, or as a practicing provider. I found that, as a student, the MS 3/4 content was perfect and they cover essentially every ortho topic. Unfortunately, they don’t have it filtered for PA students.

Did your preceptors have any opinions or comments on athletic pubalgia/sports hernia?

I am curious would PA’s be allowed to have tattoos (a full sleeve) exposed in the workplace. What are your thoughts on this?

Depends on your employer! I think it’d be sweet, esp in ortho haha
