In fairness, he gets the pass because it's his second language. When he speaks in Japanese he does the same "say the right stuff" routine but he probably knows it's silly, just like all players do. The main goal is to not look stupid/insane when doing an interview, then get the hell out. Whereas Kawa realizes, hey, I'm gonna look kinda silly no matter what, so let's milk this! Great guy
